The 33rd installment of the Super Sentai series, "Samurai ShodownErs", celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, and the official YouTube channel of Toei Special Photographer also took the opportunity to release the full episode online for free from March 8.
The Samurai Shogun began airing on TV Asahi in February 2009 and starred Momori Matsuzaka, Hiroki Aiba (former stage name Hiroki Aiba at the time of filming), Katsugo Suzuki, Ryohana Morita, Rin takaari, Keisuke Soma, and Goro Ibuki. With "harmony" as the creative concept, the series introduces samurai themes for the first time, combining period dramas with modern dramas and incorporating a large number of new elements. The story tells that the monster organization "Outer Path People" in the Santu River came to the human world through the "gap" connecting the underworld and the real world to try to invade, and in order to protect the peace of the world, heisei's samurai true swordsman fought fiercely with it. In the process of dueling with the outsiders, with the maintenance, trust and courage between people, the young samurai grew. Whether the existence of the "old man" can become a symbol of the spirit of Bushido in modern society, whether it is an absolute condition for victory... Around these problems, the samurai of the 21st century finally ushered in a great reunion. So what kind of production secrets are behind this work?
Compared with the previous production scenes of the Clan Series, "Samurai Team True Swordsman" has two huge changes, one is the first use of digital photography, and the other is the abolition of completely silent shooting.
Takeyuki Suzuki, a consultant and executive producer of today's television division, often told TV Asahi that he wanted to shoot on film. Suzuki especially likes miniature close-ups of giant battles and wants to shoot these kinds of special photographs on film all the time. However, the "Kamen Rider" in the next studio has been fully converted to digital photography since "Kamen Rider Empty Me", and some of the "Future Squad Time Lian" in the same year as "Empty Me" have also been converted to digital photography, and the following year's "Hundred Beast Clan Tooth Barker" is still filmed, but the later stage has been completely converted to digital processing, and by 2008, all the TV series left only "Super Team" is still insisting on shooting on expensive film, and the TV station is almost unable to withstand such pressure. In 2009, with the discontinuation of Kodak's 16mm film film, even if it raised the world's inventory, it was unable to return to the sky, and finally had to abandon film shooting, and instead imported the latest digital film camera RED ONE. Photography technician Fumio Matsumura said that RED ONE is a digital video camera, but it is designed based on the concept of film cameras, so it can achieve the same shooting method as film photography, and can correspond to the lens of 16 mm shockproof camera and other film camera peripherals, which is easy to use, so that the photographic equipment and technology of the film era can be directly used.
In the past, the team series has always been in the form of full post-recording, and there is no radio when shooting. In True Swordsman, this method of filming was abolished. Takaaki Utsunomiya, the chief producer of this work, said that in the past, mute shooting was simply considered to take into account the efficiency of the shooting scene, and there was no direct relationship with the photographic equipment. Because the silent shooting can not worry about all the noise around you, first shoot the acting part, and then go through the post-recording. This time, the photographic equipment was replaced at the same time as the general photography method, although the efficiency was not as good as the silent shooting in the past, but the crew worked overtime to shoot smoothly.
Takaaki Utsunomiya, who has been a producer since "Ninja Wind Squad Sword Breaker", was promoted to chief producer in this game under the leadership of his predecessor Hideaki Tsukada. In the spring of 2008, when Utsunomiya was still working as an assistant to producer Naomi Takebe on the Kamen Rider KIVA crew, Toei wanted him to hand over a work as the chief producer.
Utsunomiya proposed several plans, one of which was the "Japanese Super Team". However, when it comes to Japanese wind, this range is also too wide, and there have been two ninjas in the past, "This time it is better to use a samurai!" Utsunomiya hopes that "Samurai Warrior True Swordsman" is a work with a high degree of freedom, and the members of the True Swordsman are not limited to samurai, just like "Dinosaur Squad Beast Lian", not all dinosaurs, but also mammoths and saber-toothed tigers.
The main script of True Swordsman, Yasuko Kobayashi and Utsunomiya, had collaborated in "Boom Team Adventurer". The excellent scripts written by Kobayashi have made Utsunomiya memorable, and he is also a lover of period dramas, which is a hit. Utsunomiya went to kobayashi earlier than usual, and kobayashi quickly agreed.
Kobayashi originally based on Shogun Hoo (れん坊將軍), which set the protagonist Makoto Akira Shiba as an enlightened character like Tokugawa Yoshimune = Tokugawa Shinnosuke. However, such a personality just collided with the optimist faction of the previous work "Yan Shen Squad Boomer" Boom Red Jiang Jiao Walking Auxiliary, so he had to change the setting. Because they are samurai, when the 5 people stand together, it is not a super team, but a lord and four courtiers, Kobayashi believes that since it is a samurai-themed work, if there is no status level, it is not like a samurai, and the supervisor Of Nakazawa Shojiro, who participated in the discussion halfway, also praised it. At this time, Kobayashi proposed that the protagonists in usually bright era dramas are often dual identities and have an unknown side. If it is said that Zhangyu is the protagonist, it is better to let him appear as a stand-in for the real protagonist as a "shadow warrior", which is more in line with the common sense of the era drama, and the settings of other members are also adjusted according to the prompts given by Kobayashi. Kobayashi denied the idea that the 6th person, Gentai, was originally a ninja, believing that it was inappropriate, and eventually changed it to selling sushi.
For the title of the courtiers to Shiba Zhangyao, there was initially a plan to call him "Little Lord" in the early stage, and then change it to "Lord Gong" in the later stage, and the opinion of Utsunomiya was to use "Lord" as the title at the beginning, and Kobayashi began to have doubts about the title of "Lord", after all, it was based on the modern stage, and if it was called "Lord" at the beginning, it might be regarded as a laughing stock by the audience, but in the end it still adopted the idea of Utsunomiya. What makes Kobayashi even more headache is how to integrate the setting of "Shadow Warrior" into the plot. I was going to reveal this identity in the summer or autumn, but it was postponed to the end because of many things. Because he did not have the blood source of the Honkai, Zhangyu was uneasy about not being able to use the Fire Slasher, and at the same time, he also had an excessive reaction to the "lies" of the youkai, and these details were also laid foreshadowing for the later revelation of his identity as a "Shadow Warrior". TV Asahi also had a headache about the protagonist with such a setting in the early days, but finally passed the plan.
Kobayashi is also very satisfied with the casting of this work, especially the role of Makoto Blue, "no acting skills can not be played well", for which Kobayashi also praised Hiroki Aiba's acting skills. Another actor with a lot of appreciation is Ibuki Goro, who plays Hinoshibe Yanma, and Kobayashi praises him as a character who came out of a period drama. For the lines in the play, Kobayashi said that there is no difficulty, after all, he has liked the era drama since elementary school and middle school, and has studied the era drama, of course, what is more satisfactory to himself is that he can see the wonderful play.
In addition to the two photographic methods mentioned above, the other is the first 3D theatrical version of the Clan series, in addition to the two photographic methods mentioned above. Although it seems that only 2 cameras are shooting at the same time, the technical adjustment is not a small challenge, and it took a long time to start shooting. After all, not only all the scenes have to be shot with 3D photography, but the post-processing is also fully 3D, which takes a lot of effort.
The True Swordsman is characterized by "Japanese wind", which is meant to reflect "what is a samurai". Because the relationship between true sword red and other true swordsmen is a monarch, the perspective and position need to be paid special attention when shooting. When it comes to samurai, it is natural to think of "loyalty" and "real swords and real guns, decisive battles", with such a stereotype, it is more familiar to shoot the scene. In addition, although the setting of Shoya is a "shadow warrior" was realized at the beginning, Nakazawa did not tell this setting to Matsuzaka Momori and other actors who played Shoya, and even Hikuma, who should have known about this setting, did not know about it, Utsunomiya thought that this would be able to play the actor's acting skills more effectively, and this is how the actors were "played" in the palm of their hands.
