Recently, the Guangming police cracked a case of suspected illegal acquisition of rare and endangered wild animals, and seized 6 yellow-headed side-necked turtles of the national second-level protected animals in the aquarium under its jurisdiction.

On June 9, a citizen reported to the Gongming Police Station of the Guangming Substation that the illegal purchase of wild animals by a restaurant in Gongming Street may be suspected of violating the law and committing crimes, and hopes that the public security organs will investigate and punish them.
After visiting and exploring the platoon, at about 17:00 on the same day, the police found 6 suspected yellow-headed side-necked turtles in the aquarium involved in the case. After further understanding and verification, the yellow-headed side-necked turtle is mainly distributed in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil and other places in South America, and is a national second-level protected animal in China. The police took control of the shopkeeper Liu Mou (male, 45 years old) on the spot and took him back to the police station for further investigation.
After interrogation, the suspect Liu Confessed to the crime of illegally purchasing and selling rare and endangered wild animals. Liu Mou explained that the yellow-headed side-necked turtle is nicknamed "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", and the origin is not in China, so it is very popular in the market. Seeing that it was profitable, Liu mou purchased a batch of yellow-headed side-necked turtles from other places to sell in his own store.
At present, 6 yellow-headed side-necked turtles have been handed over to the Forest Public Security Bureau for disposal. Suspect Liu Mou has been criminally detained by the Guangming police in accordance with the law for suspected illegal purchase and sale of rare and endangered wild animals, and the case is being further handled.
