After a severe fall in the Spain opener last month with a broken right arm, Honda team star driver Mark Marquis has been forced to miss the Andalusia station.
He participated in the free practice at the Andalusian station, ran 28 laps, but decided not to compete when he felt that his elbows were getting more and more uncomfortable.

After surgery and intensive rehabilitation, Marquis's Honda team revealed that the titanium plate implanted in his arm in order to hold the bone in place had broken due to pressure.
In the statement, the Honda team said that after stabilizing the titanium plate of the right humerus was damaged by the pressure accumulation, Mark Marquis underwent a second operation on August 3. Doctors successfully replaced him with titanium plates, and then Marquis will be observed in the hospital for 48 hours before being allowed to be discharged.
Regarding Marquis's injury, doctors said that Mark Marquis had his first surgery 13 days ago, and the operation was very successful, and unexpectedly the titanium plate used to fix the wound was not stable enough. The pressure accumulated in the surgical block caused some damage to the titanium plate, so today we replaced the damaged titanium plate.
Marquis did not feel any discomfort during the operation, and he continued to follow the doctor's advice and pay attention to the sensations in his body. Unfortunately, excessive pressure leads to problems with damaged fixing plates.
Marquis himself showed photos of his injured right arm at the gym and left messages saying he was trying to resume training. At present, Marquis is already 50 points behind the top of the table, whether he will miss this week's Czech race, Honda officials have not yet had further information.
