Long-time readers who have been concerned about the Zhonghua Bookstore must know that the Bookstore has a set of large-scale literature collation series with simplified horizontal arrangement and new punctuation, called the "Chinese Sinology Library". This year, several new varieties have been added to the series. No, the annual book feast "Double Eleven" is coming soon, and we take this opportunity to introduce this set of books to all readers, especially those who are still relatively unfamiliar with the "Chinese Sinology Library".

Why should we publish such a set of books as the "Chinese Sinology Library"? What are the characteristics of this set of books?
Ancient Chinese books have always been based on traditional vertical arrangement as the standard style; at present, the standard ancient book collation method of traditional vertical arrangement is still common in the academic community. In the past 60 or 70 years, Zhonghua Bookstore has planned and published a large number of traditional vertical typesetting of ancient books, such as the Twenty-Four Histories of dianxueben, the Zizhi Tongjian, the "Basic Series of Chinese Classical Literature", and the "New Compilation of Zhuzi Integration", which are very representative works for the industry and readers to see. However, for the vast majority of readers, because they have long adapted to simplified horizontal books, when reading these traditional vertical books, they always feel less accustomed and inconvenient.
In order to better serve the cultural needs of the public, and in order to reduce the difficulty of reading these ancient books and make them closer to the general public, we have carefully selected some of the ancient books accumulated over the years, turned them into simplified horizontal and new punctuation forms, and since 2011, they have been published one after another, forming this set of "Chinese Sinology Library". Therefore, this set of libraries, except for a very few varieties that do not have a corresponding traditional version, the vast majority of them have a traditional "predecessor".
Chinese Sinology Library "Shi Ji" and Dian School Ben "Shi Ji"
The "Chinese Sinology Library" has two characteristics: on the one hand, all varieties are the most important types of books in traditional Chinese culture, covering the recognized traditional cultural canons or classic annotations in the fields of literature, history, philosophy, religion, language, science and technology, art, etc.; on the other hand, all varieties are the most high-quality collated editions that have been carefully annotated, including the point proofreadings of the prestigious traditional old annotated texts, such as Zhu Xi's "Annotations on the Collection of Chapters and Sentences of the Four Books", Qiu Zhao'ao's "Detailed Notes on Du Shi", etc. It also includes new annotations to new schools that have been well received by academic circles, such as Yang Bojun's "Notes on the Left Transmission of Spring and Autumn" and Yu Jiaxi's "Notes on the New Language of the World". It turns out that these selected bibliographies were widely welcomed after publication. For example, up to now, the "Records of History" has been printed 14 times, with more than 140,000 copies; the "Notes on the Collection of Chapters and Sentences of the Four Books" has been printed 15 times, with more than 170,000 copies; and the "Notes on the Tao Te Ching" of Lao Tzu has been printed 17 times, with nearly 280,000 copies.
