For more than four months, Ms. Wu, 28, has been forced into a whirlpool of rumors. In early July, she was secretly filmed in the process of picking up a courier, and a month later, the 9-second video and dozens of fake chat screenshots accompanied the story of "married rich woman cheating on the courier" circulated online, and even appeared on the same city hot search in Hangzhou. The initiator is Lang Mou, the owner of the newly opened supermarket in the community where Ms. Wu lives, out of a joking mentality, he conspired with his friend He Mou to perform this play.

On August 13, Lang and He were administratively detained by the Yuhang police for 9 days for defaming others, and Lang explained that his act of secretly filming and rumor-mongering was not malicious, just a joke between friends.

After the incident, Ms. Wu was diagnosed with depression, emptied her mobile phone address book, and almost stopped going out. "A lot of people have told me I'm not wrong, but I want to say I'm not without fault, I didn't do anything." After collecting evidence online for two months, on October 26, Ms. Wu filed a criminal private prosecution with the Yuhang District People's Court in Hangzhou, and although her lawyer had reminded her that the road was very difficult, she decided to defend her rights to the end.

After the case was successfully filed, Ms. Wu withdrew from the identity of the victim, and she took off her mask to face everyone. She hopes that this experience can become a case, and that she can become a bridge between victims and legal workers, so that more people with similar experiences can go more smoothly and powerfully on the road of rights protection.
