October 14 is the "Global Eye Day", and the call to protect eyesight is getting louder and louder with the strengthening of everyone's health concept, so do you really understand the situation of eye health worldwide? Recently, the world health organization released the first "World Vision Report" shows that the number of visually impaired or blind people worldwide is as high as 2.2 billion, and about 1.2 billion of them are still unable to effectively improve their vision after receiving surgery, drugs and other treatments. Where do such a large crowd go from here? Are they left to detach themselves from society and be devastated at home? Are they unable to take care of themselves, and can only "stretch out their hands and eat to open their mouths"? With the expansion of the base of visually impaired people, a profession has been widely valued - visual rehabilitation.
Some blind people can only sit at home and dare not go out, and some blind people can travel independently, what makes this very different situation? This is vision rehabilitation. Visual rehabilitation refers to the doctor's ability to use vision by assessing the patient's existing vision and visual function, through visual aid fitting, functional training and many other means, so that the patient can restore some social functions and reintegrate into society.
Under the leadership of Director Zou Yanhong, Dr. Zhou Lin and Yan Huibin, Physicians of the Department of Ophthalmology of Beijing Huaxin Hospital (the First Affiliated Hospital of Tsinghua University), attended the 2021 National Standardized Training Course for Professional and Technical Personnel of Visual Disability Rehabilitation held in Beijing on October 13 and 14, 2021. Zou Yanhong, as a lecturer, together with many top scholars in the industry across the country, brought a wonderful academic feast to everyone.
In this study, the participating physicians not only consolidated the original knowledge related to low vision, but also opened up new horizons, and further understood visual rehabilitation and children's visual rehabilitation, laying a certain foundation for future clinical work and scientific research projects. After the training, the doctors of our hospital also participated in the activities held by Beijing Shengkanghua Eye Hospital, observed the visual assessment sites, appliances and methods for children and adults, and also tried the newly launched low vision assistive devices, which will be of great help to the later clinical practice.

Good news for research! The Department of Otorhinolaryngology successfully applied for the Beijing Chaoyang District Science and Technology Plan Fund Project
Recently, the project "Early Community Screening and Intervention Research on Hearing Diseases in Elderly Diabetic Patients" hosted by Gao Yunhai, Director of the Department of Otolaryngology of Beijing Huaxin Hospital (the First Affiliated Hospital of Tsinghua University) and participated by Physician Feng Wenjing was successfully supported by the Beijing Chaoyang District Science and Technology Program Fund.
The study intends to carry out hearing health education and early screening of elderly diabetic patients in the community, and to carry out intervention guidance and regular follow-up of the screened hearing impaired, so as to achieve early screening, early diagnosis, early intervention and early rehabilitation of hearing diseases in elderly diabetic patients, reduce the complications of patients, reduce the economic burden and social burden of patients, effectively improve the hearing health care awareness and quality of life of elderly diabetic patients, and improve the awareness and diagnosis and treatment ability of community physicians on diabetic hearing diseases.
In recent years, the hospital attaches great importance to scientific research and has launched a series of measures to encourage scientific research and innovation to enhance the scientific research ability of clinicians. With the support of the hospital, Gao Yunhai, director of the Department of Otolaryngology, led the team to not only explore and innovate in clinical work, but also actively carry out scientific research. The successful application of this research topic injected "cardiotonic agent" and "catalyst" into the clinical research of the Department of Otolaryngology, which made the scientific research atmosphere of the department more intense.

Golden Autumn Walk enjoys health
In order to enliven the lives of employees, mobilize employees to exercise outdoors, and promote health, the trade union of Beijing Huaxin Hospital (the first affiliated hospital of Tsinghua University) took advantage of the lunch break from October 13 to 15 to hold a three-day "Energetic Golden Autumn" staff walking activity. Every day at 11:50 a.m., the staff and workers set off from the hospital in high spirits, walking along the prescribed route, laughing and relaxing along the way. Walking activities are the traditional sports of our trade union, which has the characteristics of low requirements for the venue, low intensity of activities, and high participation of employees.
