On August 1, 2002, Xinhua appointed Zhou Yijun as a correspondent in the Palestinian-Israeli region, when she was 26 years old, becoming the only international correspondent permanently stationed in Gaza, the other resident correspondents are all contracted journalists born and raised there, for them, war is life, there is no choice, and Zhou Yijun chose to go to the war-torn land.
As a veteran war correspondent, Zhou Yijun has long been engaged in the Middle East and international hotspots, she has interviewed Arafat, Abbas, Yassin and other key figures in the Middle East for many times, and is the winner of the second CCTV "China Journalist List".
As the only correspondent of Xinhua News Agency in Gaza, Zhou Yijun is responsible for both writing and photography, and the average person's impression of the Middle East may be "more dangerous". But for Zhou Yijun, this danger is real, such as the bombing of the house 500 meters away from her residence.
But the last question she wants to answer is, "What was your most dangerous experience?" Because Zhou Yijun felt that if her writing was finally remembered, how dangerous the things she experienced were, it was actually a failure.
In 2006, Zhou Yijun joined Phoenix TV, and her perspective has expanded from the Middle East to the Korean Peninsula and even Europe.
