According to Kyodo News Agency, on November 1, Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications announced the turnout rate for the just-concluded 49th House of Representatives election, determining that the turnout in the small electoral district was 55.93%, and the turnout of proportional representatives was 55.92%.
The Japanese House of Representatives election is divided into two election methods: small electoral districts and proportional representatives. The small electoral district is the one that casts the candidates, and the candidate with the largest number of votes is elected; the proportional representation is the vote for the political parties, which distribute the number of places elected in proportion to the votes received.
