According to the Daily Mail on August 5, American actress Lindsay Lohan was revealed to be close to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman. Salman has previously been charged with ordering the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Salman has reportedly been flying the actress in his private jet recently, even giving her a credit card.
Sources said the two met at the F1 Grand Prix a year ago and have been in close contact since then, but Rohan's representative denied the claims, confirming only that the two met last year.
However, another source said they saw text messages between the two.
Rohan is currently in Australia, where she made her debut last month in the Australian version of The Masked Singer. In the past few weeks, Rohan has made headlines over allegedly being at odds with two other lead actors, Dannii Minogue and Dave Hughes, on set.
But news said that although Rohan denied the connection between the two, rohan and Salman's relationship is unusual, because the actress has been sought after by Middle Eastern politicians in the past. People familiar with the matter said that when Rohan was in Dubai, they went crazy for her.
Before journalist Khashoggi was murdered in 2018, Salman was praised for lifting the ban on female driving. Last week, Saudi Arabia eased more restrictions on women, allowing any citizen to apply for a passport and travel freely, ending a long-standing guardianship policy that gave men control over women.
But Salman's reputation has been damaged. Khashoggi was injected with sedatives and eventually suffocated to death, and a recording of Khashoggi's last moments reveals how the killers discussed cutting his body to pieces. A United Nations report released in June said there was credible evidence that Salman was responsible for Khashoggi's murder.
The U.N. special rapporteur said it was well known that Salman had been systematically suppressing the opposition before Khashoggi's killing. The power of the state cannot be used in this way without his consent or acquiescence. Experts also believe that the subsequent destruction of evidence by Saudi officials could not have occurred without the crown prince's knowledge.
The UN Special Rapporteur further explained that even if there is no conclusive evidence that Salman was linked to the murder, Salman, as a senior official, should be held accountable.
