Granluth "Toast"

If you don't give sugar, you make trouble! Give wine and ghost stories, either you?

Biała Macara and Gran Luce Whisky Distillery

Built in 1879, the Glenrothes whisky distillery was originally known for blending whiskies and is now a famous single-wheat whisky distillery in the Speyside region. Legend has it that in the early 20th century, during the Second War of Bohr in South Africa, British officer James Grant rescued a young boy named Biawa Makalaga from Zimbabwe and took him with him as an assistant.

After the war, James took Biawa back to his native Scotland. The officer was the owner of the Glen Grant distillery, not far from the Gran Luth Distillery, and it was only natural that Biawa worked in the distillery until his death in 1972.

In 1979, the Gran Luce Distillery was expanded to prepare for the installation of 2 new sets of stills. At the time of installation, some workers were afraid to say that they saw the figure of Biawa appearing between the distillers twice. This sounds ridiculous, but it aroused the interest of a university professor, Cedric Wilson, who took the initiative to investigate the distillery and claimed that the installation of the stills had destroyed the local "spiritual vein". He then went to the town's cemetery and spoke for half a day to a tombstone. Since then, the distillery has not had any strange incidents, and according to the "eyewitnesses" at the time, the tombstone was Biała's.

For this matter, we don't know, we don't dare to say it, let's just listen to it as a story. However, the staff of the Gran Luth Distillery continued the "toast" instead. Every year I send some to that guy, of course, with Granluth single-wheat whiskey.

The double ghost of Jura Island

If you don't give sugar, you make trouble! Give wine and ghost stories, either you?

Jura island belongs to the Inner Hebrides Archipelago, with an area of 366 square kilometers, but in 2001 the total population was only 188 people, which is a rather remote and desolate land. In 1781, Laird Archibald Campbell, then the governor of Jura, announced a ban on distilling spirits on the island, and Chula no longer produced whiskey.

However, one midnight 29 years later, Laird suddenly woke up from a dream and saw an old woman hanging by his bedside, resenting his policies for making the island's whiskey scarce and unsatisfied. On day 2, a frightened Laird repealed the act and decided to invest in a distillery, the Jura Distillery, established in 1810, in a cave where whisky smugglers had hidden.

Later, the distillery survived the shutdown, whisky tax reform and other blows, and there is still a 16-year-old bottle of whiskey in the depths of the cave to appease the soul of the old woman.

But that's not the end of the story. One day in 2010, Elvis, the "factory cat" of Jura Distillery, suddenly changed his temperament and kept screaming into the air. Joan Charles, who calls herself a "psychic," came to the distillery and claimed to have felt the presence of "a majestic, powerful, but kind female soul," even asserting that the man's name was Elizabeth Quinn. The winery manager, Willie Cochrane, was surprised to hear the name, and years ago there was actually a female teacher named Elizabeth Quinn in the town.

It turns out that female teachers also like whisky... In short, the whisky of the Chula distillery is still quite popular with female ghosts!

The Headless Horseman of the Pomo Distillery

If you don't give sugar, you make trouble! Give wine and ghost stories, either you?

The story begins with Lachlan Ban, a farmer on islay. One night, when Lackland returned home, he saw a "headless horseman" rushing out of his house and leaving. Lackland ran into the house in a panic and found that there was inexplicably a bottle of Bowmore whiskey on the table, and the cap was still open. Apparently the headless horseman had "drunk."

Out of fear, Lackland did not dare to accept the "gift" and threw the whiskey out. Later, When Lachland told his brother (the founder of the Pomo Distillery), he was embarrassed to explain that he had actually left a bottle of whiskey for his brother that night, but he couldn't help but take a sip. Because it happened to be windy and rainy that day, he covered his head with a cloak when he left, but he did not think about it, but became a "headless horseman".

Since then, however, "whisky for guests must be unopened" has become a tradition in Islay. Want to entertain guests with whiskey? It was an excuse to reopen a new bottle of wine.

If you don't give sugar, you make trouble! Give wine and ghost stories, either you?

In Scotland, however, there are many more ghost stories about whisky. I think it's probably because people are prone to hallucinations when they get drunk!

I have prepared so many wine and ghost stories for this Halloween Eve, what have you prepared for Halloween?
