On October 2, 1852, the famous British chemist and Nobel Laureate William Ramsey was born

He discovered six inert gases: helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, and radon. This is unprecedented in the history of the discovery of chemical elements; his separation of helium from yttrium uranium proved that this element, which had previously only been observed by the French astronomer Pierre Jeansen in the solar spectrum, also existed on Earth. Radon was isolated and its density was determined to be the highest among known gases. For discovering these gaseous inert elements and determining their position in the periodic table, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1904.

He graduated from university in 1870. After graduation, he went to Heidelberg, Germany to continue his studies. A year later, he was recommended by Bunsen to continue his studies at the University of Tübingen in Germany. Completed his doctoral thesis under the direction of another chemist, William Rudolf Fettich.

In 1872, he received a doctorate in philosophy from his study of nitrobenzoic acid.

In 1880 he was appointed Professor of Chemistry at Bristol College.

In 1882 he became dean of the college.

He was awarded the Davy Medal in 1895. In the same year, he was elected a member of the French Academy of Sciences.

In 1911 he became President of the British Association for the Advancement of Science.

William Ramsey made major discoveries in science, was a world-renowned chemist, and was also an excellent linguist. Because of his serious study from an early age, he was proficient in English, French, Italian, German, Dutch and other languages, and was praised as "the best linguist in the scientific community".

Sir William Ramsey, KCB, also translated as: William Ramsey, William Ramsay. Sir William Ramsay (2 October 1852 – 23 July 1916) was born in Glasgow. British chemist.
