Mentors play an important role in our career development and life, they are our spiritual leaders, role models for learning or people who specifically guide us, and having a mentor is essential.
Spiritual leader
There is a type of guru who may not appear in your real world, but who will always lead you spiritually. The teacher brings you strength spiritually, so that you can feel a call of strength when you encounter difficulties or feel confused. You'll see a lot of good traits in him, and in a sense, you'd also very much like to be like him, or have some of the traits in him.
A role model to learn
The second type of teacher is similar to a wise man, who is very knowledgeable and has great insight. You may have met him by chance, such as books or courses. Regarding him, both workplace experience and life experience are quite rich. Having a chance to have an exchange with him will make you feel like you're inspired, like a torch suddenly lighting up your life.
In the five years from 2013 to 2017, in the painful process of my own career transformation, Yinggang Yumoto had a great influence on me. At the "Creating Meaningful Work" workshop he designed and developed, when I heard him say, "Work is to explore and express the meaning of life", I suddenly realized why I did not feel passion in the enterprise, because at that time, my company could not meet the need for me to explore and express the meaning of life.
The master takes the apprentice
The third type of mentor is someone who can give you specific guidance at work, and you have a similar professional background, a bit like a master with an apprentice. He has a wealth of personal and practical experience, and when asking him for advice and feedback, he usually tells you without reservation that it will be very helpful for your development. You may have the opportunity to learn directly from him at work, or even work with him.
In the process of learning system coaching, I felt the kind of seminal help from the founder of this course, Mr. Connie, who knows everything about the students and says everything.
