The police and the people joined hands to rescue the long-tailed forest owl, a national second-level protected animal

Recently, the Natural Protected Area Management Department of The Great Poplar Forestry Co., Ltd. and the Forest Protection Brigade of the Dayangshu Branch of the Daxinganling Forest Public Security Bureau in Inner Mongolia jointly rescued a long-tailed forest owl, a national second-level protected animal.

On October 14, Qin Mou, a resident of Dayangshu Town, sent an injured big bird to the Forest Protection Brigade of the Dayangshu Sub-bureau. According to Qin, the bird was found on his way to work, and when it was found, the bird was injured and could not fly normally. After understanding the situation, the police immediately contacted the Natural Protected Area Management Department of The Great Poplar Forestry Co., Ltd., and the staff quickly rushed to the scene. After identification, this injured bird is a long-tailed forest owl, a national second-class protected animal, injured on the left wing, unable to fly, and needs professional medical treatment due to limited rescue conditions. The staff of the police and the Department of Nature Reserve Management immediately drove him to the Orunchun Autonomous Banner Endangered Wildlife Rescue Center for professional treatment. At present, the injury of the long-tailed forest owl is slowly recovering.

It is understood that the long-tailed forest owl, commonly known as the owl, is a medium-sized nocturnal raptor, often inhabiting montane coniferous forests, mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests, and occasionally appears in forest edge secondary forests and sparse forest areas.
