Yellow-rumped Quail: Similar in appearance and size to the red-eared quail, with a body length of 17-21 cm. The forehead is black from the top of the head, with no crown or a slightly short, unknown crown. There are small red spots on each side of the base of the lower mouth, the ear feathers are grayish brown or tan, and the upper body is earthy brown or brown. The chin and throat are white , the rest of the underparts are nearly white , the thorax has a grayish-brown transverse band , and the undertail coverts are bright yellow.

Its natural habitats are secondary broad-leaved forests, oak forests, mixed forests and forest margins in the middle and low mountains and the foothills of Pingba and hilly areas. It is often a seasonal vertical migration, and in summer it is mostly along the river valley to the central part of the mountain, and the altitude varies from region to region. Usually a group of 3-5 birds, but also a large group of more than 10 to 20 birds, and sometimes mixed with red-rumped plovers and red-eared plovers. Good chirping, crisp and loud. It feeds mainly on plant fruits and seeds, and also eats animal foods such as insects, but the young birds almost all feed on insects.

It is found in China, northeastern Myanmar, northern Laos and northern Vietnam.
