Dedication
In the first interview, the 94-year-old Grandpa Liang choked up.
He recalled a story, when he was still Dr. Xiaoliang, a child who was only a few dozen days old had sepsis, And Dr. Xiaoliang was very anxious, "Why can't it be better to repeat it over and over again?" "But if you think about it, there's no other way.
After exhausting all the treatments, the child is still gone. Dr. Xiao Liang was very guilty, but the child's mother said, "I stay here every day, and I see you treating my child day and night, so tired that your eyelids are pulled down, you and everyone have tried their best, we ourselves are not blessed."
To this day, recalling the words of the child's mother, Liang Chengwei still clearly remembers how she felt at that time. "On the one hand, I am grateful for her attitude and knowing. On the other hand, it feels like there's nothing we can do, that we're too small. ”
In China in the 1950s, children suffered from sensational diseases such as measles, polio, toxic dysentery, tuberculous meningitis, schistosomiasis and so on. The number and complexity of the disease make the young Liang Chengwei have to quickly grow into a pediatric general practitioner, and in the midst of the dilemma, do his best to find a way.
Liang Chengwei was born in a family of scholars, and when he was a child, he was a student and wandered away under gunfire. With a heart of worrying about the country and the people, he indignantly studied and used actions to depict the ideal of his home country in his heart. After that, he was admitted to Xiangya Medical College in one fell swoop and began to receive systematic medical training. Xiangya's demeanor, Liang Chengwei has not forgotten, seeking truth and seeking truth, must be specialized, emphasizing clinical, emphasizing the ability to observe, and the ability to ask questions. This scientific spirit was completely projected onto his future medical work.
Pick up
In 1978, Liang Chengwei was transferred to the Temple of Heaven Hospital to participate in the reconstruction of the pediatric department. Prior to this, he declined the invitation of the pediatric titan Zhu Futang to study isotopes and chose the clinic. He decided to stay with the child at his bedside.
Liang Chengwei and his pediatric colleagues are looking for a way, and New China is also looking for a way. "Prevention first" is the most important method born at the national health work conference. After that, China has successively established special disease prevention and control centers for parasitic diseases, endemic diseases, schistosomiasis and other diseases, and at the same time vigorously promoted the transformation of basic health facilities in urban and rural areas and the implementation of large-scale immunization activities. In about 20 years, all kinds of diseases that threatened people's health before the founding of the Country showed a sharp downward trend.
Under the implementation of the "prevention first" policy, the types of pathology have changed accordingly. Liang Chengwei keenly found that there were more children with neurological diseases, and the hardware equipment of the neurosurgery department of Tiantan Hospital was second to none in Beijing at that time, and he immediately decided to shift the main direction to pediatric neurology diseases.
At that time, the Pediatric Department of the Women's and Children's Hospital of Beijing Medical University had split into a pediatric neurology group, and the Beijing Children's Hospital had established a pediatric neurology department, and there was no more than that. Liang Chengwei could only send 3 doctors to study under Professor Zuo Qihua, a master of pediatric neurology, and the rest of the doctors were led by himself, starting from epilepsy, the most common disease in the pediatric nervous system, and using the most simple way to understand the strangest disease.
And the most simple way is to copy the books that cannot be bought abroad, learn word by word, stand by the bedside of the child, stay up minute by minute, cherish the cases that have been seen, and accumulate one person at a time.
But to do so, you have to put in a lot of effort. Liang Chengwei lives in a dormitory of less than 50 square meters, just a few minutes away from the pediatric department, and has lived for more than 30 years. He was harsh on himself, in exchange for more time to study the disease. There was a child who went to several hospitals and fell ill for more than 30 times and was finally treated, thanks to Liang Chengwei's truthfulness. "The life and death, the cripple and even the happiness of a patient are in your hands. Only when you are walking on thin ice, being down-to-earth, and spending time and energy working hard to use your brain can you really solve their problems. ”
In the past ten years, the Tiantan Pediatrics Department has become another comprehensive pediatric department with a group of divine diseases in Beijing after the Women's and Children's Hospital of Beijing Medical University and the Beijing Children's Hospital. In 1994, Liang Chengwei published the first monograph on pediatric epilepsy in China.
Claws
Liang Chengwei may have liked children more than he thought, he said, "Wei made up a new Zi Hong's residual zhi, and Yi Le Ping was born a childish plot." He also said, "I have been a pediatrician all my life, dealing with children day and night, I love them, and I love the pediatric department of Beijing Tiantan Hospital that I have been running for nearly 20 years." "This love may come from the influence of the mother," the mother is a small foot for more than 30 years, but teach the child, people must have a conscience. Or perhaps, in his own way, he is realizing his homeland ideal, "Our country has suffered too many grievances, and the people have suffered too many grievances." He is also extremely harsh on his children, believing that "if you make the best use of everything and make the best use of your talents, the country will get better and better." The complex emotions have accompanied this pediatrician diligently throughout his life. In 1994, Liang Chengwei retired, he chose to stay in the hospital, and spent more than 20 years to participate in rounds and teaching, and exert his residual heat.
Liang Chengwei has treated countless children in his life, and many parents of children have even named their children "Nian Liang" to thank him. And he himself also gained a lot of real emotions with the child. He wrote a song for himself, "Ordinary people do ordinary things, and ordinary hearts write ordinary sentences." It is not ordinary to do ordinary, it is not ordinary to do ordinary enlightenment. He also said, "I don't feel tired, because I believe in one thing, and people always have to do one thing in their life." I'm a doctor, so I'll take it to the end. ”
Time has passed quickly, and today's Chinese pediatrics has long been turned upside down. Behind the upsurge of the times are many benevolent healers like Liang Chengwei, who seem ordinary, but they do extraordinary things. They have the courage to place their lifelong love in the world of medicine forever, not to ask for meaning, but always to do their best to find a way.
