Prehistoric Biology Atlas 58 – Spiny Scaled Fish

Like the order Cranials, the order Plesiosaurus is a fan-fin fish that only survived in the Devonian. However, unlike its contemporaries , the order Foreva squamously evolved the muscular fins characteristic of the finfish , as well as the unique associated nodal skull.

Prehistoric Biology Atlas 58 – Spiny Scaled Fish

Name: Gyroplychius

Age: Mid-Devonian

Location: Europe (Scotland)

Size: Length 30 cm

The Spinfin is a carnivorous fish found in Devonian rivers that swims rapidly, has a long body, small eyes, and a keen sense of smell. Like other bulbous fish, it has a short jaw and increases bite force.

The spinfinder has muscular fleshy fins, and in addition to the pectoral fins, the other fins are concentrated at the back of the body, which increases the propulsion of this arrowtail fish.
