Norbulingka is located on the western outskirts of Lhasa, Tibet. Founded in the 1840s (Dalai VII), it is a typical Tibetan style garden where successive Dalai Lamas have spent their summer administration. Before the formation of the forest garden, it was full of lush vinegar willow trees, springs flowing in the woods, birds singing, hares and marmots everywhere, the environment of the passing was quiet, and the air was fresh: in the literature about Lhasa, this place is called the "Southwest Vinegar Willow Forest Garden".

The construction process of Norbulingka began with the construction of the Wuyao Pozhang by the Seventh Dalai Lama and the construction of the Dalai Lama by the 14th Dalai Lama, which lasted more than 200 years. After more than 200 years of history, The Norbulingka in its current size was finally formed. The picture shows Roblin Carriry's performance of Tibetan drama.
The Fifth Dalai Lama set up tents here in the height of summer to spend the summer. The Seventh Dalai Lama built the "Wuyao Palace" here and bathed in hot springs here. To this end, the Kasang Pozhang Palace was built in 1755 AD, and since then it has become the summer residence of successive Dalai Lamas. During the reign of the Eighth Dalai Lama, the "Lunzhu Gacai PoZhang" was established, and the Dragon King Hall and the "Zhu Zeng Pozhang" on the west side of Xiaotan were simultaneously built with yellow walls, and flowers and trees were planted within the walls, officially transforming into a beautiful forest garden.
Since the defeat of the Gurkha army in Nepal by the Qing army, Nepal has paid tribute to Lhasa and Beijing on time. The picture shows the gift given by the king of Nepal to the 13th Dalai Lama, and it is said that two elephants, one male and one female, were paid tribute at that time. The male died on the way, while the female arrived in Lhasa as an emissary. Elephants are spiritual beasts in Buddhist teachings, and old photographs show elephants participating in festivals. Lhasa attaches great importance to the care of the elephant, sends special caretakers to feed it, and builds a house for the elephant on a small island in the Dragon King Pond behind the Potala Palace. Some say that elephants die after liberation.
