Geneva, 31 Oct (Xinhua) -- Swiss absinthe manufacturer Yves Kuboul said in an interview with a Xinhua reporter in the town of Moje in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel that he hoped the China International Import Expo would help him understand the acceptance of absinthe by Chinese consumers and open the door to the Chinese market.

Kubler is the inheritor of the absinthe brand "Gubole", a family brand founded in 1863 in the canton of Neuchâtel, where the distillery is located in the Traver Valley.

Kubler, who had tried to promote absinthe in China, left a "superb" impression of the modern city when he visited Shanghai three years ago, realizing that China was a promising market for absinthe manufacturers. He said that at the Expo, the "Gubole" brand absinthe will be displayed together with other well-known Swiss products, hoping to attract the attention of Chinese enterprises and consumers, thus opening up the Chinese market.

Traditional absinthe is made by distilling and brewing a variety of herbs and spices such as absinthe, fennel, and fennel with a base wine, which is usually diluted with ice water before drinking.

Kubler wants to convey to Chinese consumers the culture and traditions associated with absinthe. He introduced that absinthe was popular in Europe and the Americas, and hemingway, Van Gogh writers and artists were fans of absinthe.

In the interview, Kubler showed reporters a way to drink absinthe: pour an appropriate amount of absinthe into the cup, place a spoon with a hole in the mouth of the cup, put a sugar cube on it, and when the sugar cube is dissolved, stir it well with a spoon to drink.

The annual production of "Gubole" absinthe is nearly 300,000 liters, of which more than half are exported overseas. Kubler is full of expectations for participating in the Expo for the first time, hoping to open up the Chinese market through participation in the exhibition and gradually expand its market share. "Maybe in the future China will become our biggest export market." He said confidently.
