Guangzhou, September 12 (Shen Zhao) On the afternoon of the 12th, the countdown clock for the first anniversary of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Guangzhou Division was launched at the Tianhe Sports Center, and at the launching ceremony, Yi Jianlian and Dongshan Young Master (Liao Huan) were appointed as the local ambassadors of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China.

On the same day, FRANK Lindez, FIBA's Director of Media and Marketing, awarded the host city plaque to the Guangzhou Division Organizing Committee on behalf of FIBA; in return, Guangzhou presented FIBA with Canton embroidery handicrafts with urban characteristics.

Liu Kejun, vice chairman of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Organizing Committee and vice chairman of the Chinese Basketball Association, said in his speech that the countdown to the first anniversary of the event ended successfully in Guangzhou, which means that the preparations for the Basketball World Cup have also entered the sprint stage. It is reported that the FIBA Basketball World Cup was formerly known as the World Basketball Championship held in 1950. In 2012 FIBA announced that the Basketball World Championship, held every four years, would be renamed the Basketball World Cup, with the inaugural tournament being held in Spain in 2014. The 2019 China Basketball World Cup will be played in 8 cities including Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Foshan and Dongguan. (End)
