Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is underway, and at this time, Marvel Studios is also laying the groundwork for Phase 5 of the MCU. Avengers: Endgame may forever be the most memorable symbol of this cinematic universe, but that could change in the coming years as the cinematic universe continues to raise the "stakes." The current phase of the MCU has broken more boundaries than ever before, and the multiverse has left the future full of unknowns.

Disney has been updating its film release dates since Phase 4, first by a few months and then by more than a year, resulting in both films originally scheduled to be released before 2020 being postponed to 2021. Wanda & Vision became the first MCU project released in Phase 4, with Falcon and the Winter Soldier in second place, and then with the release of Loki and Whatif..., the MCU series will soon usher in projects like Hawkey and Ms. Marvel. Although theatrical releases have returned to the forefront of distribution, Marvel Studios and Disney have recently continued to adjust release dates.
Most of the project release dates are currently only scheduled for 2023, and Marvel Studios is only willing to share the details of these film projects until the summer of 2023, probably because phase 4 of the MCU only lasts for two years, so any Marvel movies released later in 2023 or later will not have detailed project details for the time being. Although Sony also expanded the Marvel Universe with Venom 2 in 2021, these movies will only be loosely associated with the MCU at the moment, and will not be the object of this article for the time being. With that in mind, here's an update on the dynamics of all upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies by the end of 2021 and beyond.
Eternity - November 5, 2021
Eternals is actually the third Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to be released in 2021, following Black Widow and Legend of the Ten Rings. The Eternals tell the story of an immortal alien race created by the "gods" (the oldest creatures in the universe) who were "sent to Earth to protect humanity from the evil rival 'Anomalous'". There is already a lot of information about this film that can be confirmed, including the story content, character lineup, etc. There have been many introductions, and there is no more that can be updated (just a spoiler), which will not be repeated here, but there is still a point that needs to be declared, that is, whether the film is introduced into inland theaters, it is still unknown, but it is estimated that the possibility of introduction is unlikely. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 5, 2021.
Spider-Man: Heroes Gone - December 17, 2021
In 2019, the sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home was questioned for some time as Marvel Studios and Sony ran into a deal to renew Peter Parker's deal to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spider-Man: Homeless is set after the shocking ending of Hero Expedition, where Spider-Man faces the consequences of revealing his identity, forcing him to seek help from Doctor Strange.
Many people have confirmed that the film will involve a multiverse, and the cast also includes familiar faces from previous versions of the Spider-Man series, james fox as optoelectronics, and Alfred Molina as Dr. Octopus. Returning cast members include Tom Holland, who plays Peter, and Zandaya, who plays MJ; Benedict Cumberbatch will continue to play Dr. Strange and serve as Peter's mentor. Judging from the trailer, it appears that Doctor Strange casts his magic to help Peter, but casting spells throws the multiverse into chaos. The film is still being directed by Jon Watts, the director of the first two films, returning for the third time.
Doctor Strange: Crazy Multiverse - May 6, 2022
The second Doctor Strange is expected to penetrate into the MCU's multiverse, which should be the first to be pushed to the climax after Spider-Man: Homeless. Sam Remy will take over as director of Doctor Strange 2, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wang re-playing The Strange and The King, respectively. In addition, Elizabeth Olson will appear in the film as Scarlet Witch, which will be directly linked to her Disney+ series Wanda and Vision, which ended before Doctor Strange 2. Remy, who previously directed Grim Reaper, will use his roots in thriller filmmaking to make Doctor Strange 2 the first full-fledged thriller film in the MCU.
Thor: Love and Thunder - July 8, 2022
Thor: Love and Thunder is the MCU's first "quadrilogy" single-player series. After the success of Thor 3: Clash of the Gods, Taiga Viditti returned to screenwriting and directing Love and Thunder, with Chris Hemsworth going on to play Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and now Queen Asgard, and Natalie Portman returning to the series as Jane Foster. Portman will play "Mighty Thor" in the new sequel, a story that preceded Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and will feature members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. In addition, Thor 4 will feature "Gorr the God Butcher" played by Christian Bale and Zeus by Russell Crowe. Filming of the film is over, but it won't be released until July 8, 2022.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – November 11, 2022
If the schedule remains the same, this film will be the 30th film of the MCU. Black Panther broke multiple box office records when it was released, and it was the first superhero film to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture, which further prompted the production of a sequel. Ryan Coogler will return as writer and director of "Black Panther 2," which is said to dig deeper into Wakanda culture. Chadwick Boseman died of illness in August 2020, and the sequel will now focus on other roles in Wakanda, such as Nakia by Lupita Niyongo, Shuri by Letitia Wright, and Okoye by Danai Gurira. Marvel has decided not to continue the character of T'Challa.
Captain Marvel 2 - February 17, 2023
Captain Marvel 2 (officially titled Marvel) is in production and is scheduled to be released on February 17, 2023. Brie Larson will continue to play the role of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the MCU. Captain Marvel co-directors Anna Boden and Ryan Flake aren't coming back. Candy Man's director, Nia Da Costa, will be the director of the sequel, written by Megan McDonnell of Wanda & Vision. Larson was joined by Teyonah Parris, who starred in Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani, who played Lady Marvel, and British actress Zavey Ashton, who will also play the villain role in the film. The film will be closely linked to Disney+'s Wanda & Visions and Ms. Marvel. Filming for the film began in August 2021.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 - May 5, 2023
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was released much later than expected. Shortly after submitting a draft script to Marvel, director James Gunn planned to start working on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in early 2019, with the goal of releasing it by the end of 2020. However, due to Disney's dismissal of him, although it soon rehired him, the development of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was delayed, and finally scheduled to be released on May 5, 2023, and the original cast will return. There will be departures in this part, but new members will also be added.
Ant-Man 3: Quantum Realm - July 28, 2023
There's not much information about Ant-Man 3 so far, but Paul Rudd will return as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly will return as Hope Van Dyne, aka The Wasp. Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer play Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, respectively. Kang the Conqueror, played by actor Jonathan major, will reappear in the MCU, a major villain who travels through the universe and officially appears in the finale of the first season of Loki.
In addition, Kathryn Newton will succeed Emma Fuhrmann as Scott's adult daughter, Cassie Lang. Peyton Reed, who will also return to directing, will be released on July 28, 2023, and is currently the last film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe program to have a definite release date.
Fantastic Four - TBD
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has already decided on the Fantastic Four movie plans, which were officially announced in December 2020 but are still in the early stages of development. While the Disney-Fox deal was reached as early as March 2019, Marvel Studios may need enough time to introduce Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Thunderbolt Fire, and Stone Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jon Watts will still direct Marvel Cinematic Universe's Fantastic Four, and the film has been included in Marvel's fourth phase of the program, so it is believed that more news will come out soon.
Blade Warrior - To be determined
The appearance of Blade Warrior in the MCU is somewhat surprising, the film of the same name was previously played by Wesley Snipes, and due to the addition of "Vampire", the film is very different from what audiences are accustomed to in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Snipes did not return to Blade. Two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will star in "Blade Warrior" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film will probably be the fifth phase of the film, and it may not be released until the end of 2023 or early 2024. Stacy Osse-Kufour will be the screenwriter of the film, and the choice of director has not yet been decided.
X-Men - Tbided
An X-Men movie similar to The Fantastic Four will also be released in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is no doubt that marvel studios will take some time to introduce the X-Men's "mutants". But since Disney acquired Fox, it's really been a very exciting project.
Deadpool 3 - To be determined
While disney's plans for the "X-Team" movie appear to have died when it acquired Fox, former Disney boss Bob Eagle previously confirmed that Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool will remain at Marvel Studios. In December 2019, Reynolds confirmed that Deadpool 3 was in development. Liz Molyniux-Loglin and Wendy Molinux are said to be working on the screenplay, and the film will remain R-rated at least in the existing Marvel Universe. Filming for the third part won't begin until the end of 2022 at the earliest, so it may be a long time before we see the film.
Marvel TV shows on Disney+
This year we've seen Disney+ series like Wanda and Vision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Disney+ episodes like Rocky, and in August 2021, we saw Marvel's "Whatif..." animated series air on Disney+. By studying what the story of certain Marvel Cinematic Universes would look like after certain events changed, the work introduced 25 Marvel actors to the animated series in addition to the observers voiced by Jeffrey Wright.
The next Disney+ TV series is Hawkeye, where Kate Bishop, played by Hayley Steinfield, officially entered the Marvel Universe. Jeremy Rayner will also continue to play Clint Barton/Hawkeye in Hawkeye, with a cast that includes Vera Famiga, Flavre, Tony Dalton, Brian Darcy James and Araqua Cox. Most notably, however, Florence Pugh will return to play Yelena Belova, whose target is Clint because he is linked to Natasha's death. Hawkeye will be released on November 21, 2021.
Three other Marvel Cinematic Universe series are also in production, including "Lady Marvel," "Moon Knight" starring Oscar Isaac, and "She-Hulk" starring Tatiana Maslany. All three shows are likely to be released on Disney+ in 2022, but "Ms. Marvel" may be released as early as the end of 2021. As for the future, Marvel Studios is also working on "Secret Invasion," the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Deal, the Heart of Steel, The Iron War, and a series of movies set in Wakanda.
