The Oxford Dictionary defines "loft" as wide-ranging, saying it is a double-storey attic. But today's domestic loft is very clear - you can do your own partition (one floor divided into two floors) of small apartments (usually apartments).
Looking at the small and cute two floors, and then looking at the low price and the appearance of the tall building, anyone will be impressed. Even my biggest dream ever was to own a loft. Or more than just a dream, I even have the money to buy a house ready (the down payment in second-tier cities is only two or three hundred thousand).
Thinking about it now, I'm a little glad I left an eye: I can always hear people say that lofts are not livable, so before buying a house, I rented a loft for a month. This month, I completely dispelled the idea of buying a loft and summarized the 6 major "sins" in the living experience.

The total height of the Loft is generally between 3.5m and 5.2m, and the most common options are 4.5m and 4.9m. The total height of this loft I rented is 4.9m.
At this height, you also need to make a floor slab in the middle, and you also need to pave the floor (tile or wooden floor). Two floors plus one floor slab, the thickness is at least 40cm. So the total height of the 4.9m floor becomes 4.5m, and it is divided into two, and the height of each layer is 2.25m.
This height is similar to the height of our common indoor doors. Think about it, living in such a room all year round is simply how depressing and depressing it is. Adults, even if they are only 1.5 meters tall, can easily touch the ceiling by straightening their arms – not to mention, it is much easier to change the light bulb.

What I can't accept the most is a few of the various expenses. I bought loft because I didn't have any money – if I had money, I would just go straight to buy a duplex house. But the cost of living in loft is really not low. All kinds of fees are commercial prices.
Water and electricity cost twice as much as residential costs. There is no natural gas at all (most apartments do not have gas) and liquefied gas is required. The use of trouble, not to mention, the cost is much more expensive than natural gas.
There is no gas and all lofts are generally open kitchens
Not to mention the property fee, I rented here, next to the residence is 1.7 yuan / ㎡, the apartment is 2.5 yuan / square meter. I have not paid the heating fee (because it is summer), but it is said to be 3200 yuan / ㎡ / March. The heating cost in the house is 2200 yuan / ㎡ / March.

The most paradoxical part of Loft is that it is relatively small in size, but it also has to put a staircase in the room. So there is no way, you can only squeeze the floor space of the stairs, resulting in the stairs are very narrow and steep.
The width of the normal staircase should be 900mm, while here I am, it is only 750mm. On the first two days of rent, I took my children to play for a while. As a result, the child was very excited, running around on the stairs, and I was shocked to see it.
Think about it, it's ok for young people to live. Even in middle age, the legs and feet are no longer so sharp, and it is dangerous to go up and down this staircase.

The apartments are basically single-sided windows, which in itself leads to poor ventilation in the rooms. Loft was built according to the flat floor when building, and when making its own floor slabs, it was necessary to divide the windows in two. As a result, the windows on the second floor are particularly small and relatively lower.

Therefore, the ventilation situation on the second floor can be imagined, the room is hot and stuffy, and the ventilation speed is still quite slow. I was ignorant at first, and ate a bowl of snail powder in the second-floor bedroom, and the smell did not dissipate for three days.
<h1 class="pgc-h-decimal" data-index="05" data-track="21" > heating</h1>
Houses in the north, even flat-rise apartments and shops at the bottom, come standard with underfloor heating. The comfort level of floor heating is much higher than that of radiators. The temperature is high and it doesn't feel dry yet.
But inside the loft, there is no floor heating. It is also very helpless to think about it: the second floor slab is built by yourself, and it is impossible to pull the floor heating pipe to the second floor. So in order to make the second floor also have heating, you can only use radiators.
Only radiators are actually not unacceptable, and more importantly, radiators actually do not pass through the second floor. If you specially pull a pipe to go up, it will cause the radiator to not heat up because the water pressure is not enough. So my loft approach is to install a particularly high radiator on the first floor. The plumbing is still on the first floor, just part of the radiator that leads to the second floor.
I didn't experience the effect, but just by the number of radiators I know that the room wouldn't be too warm.
<h1 class="pgc-h-decimal" data-index="06" data-track="26" > air conditioner</h1>
I used the air conditioner, which was very uncomfortable, mainly reflected in two aspects:
The first is that the height is not enough, the floor height is not enough, and the air conditioning installation is naturally relatively short. Therefore, no matter how to adjust the air outlet, the air conditioning wind will blow to people. The air conditioner was overcast and uncomfortable after a long time. And because its suspension position is so low, there is even a risk of bumping into each other when walking through the air conditioner.
The second is the slow cooling speed, still because the height is not enough. The air conditioning wind can only blow to the nearby range and cannot be circulated in a large area. Approaching the air conditioner is cold, away from the air conditioner is hot.
