Located in Dushan County, the southernmost part of Guizhou Province's Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, bordering Guangxi, it is the only way for Liangguang to enter Guizhou and even the entire southwest. Although the presence of Dushan in guizhou today is not very strong, and the population is only 350,000, during the War of Resistance Against Japan, it became a transit point for migrant refugees to go to the rear, and the originally quiet town suddenly became lively.

Before 1939, China was still unfamiliar with dushan, but with the construction of the railway here, Dushan gradually became known to outsiders. When Changsha and Hengyang fell one after another during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in 1944, and thousands of refugees crowded on the Xianggui Railway to flee, many people sighed from the heart, "How good it would be if I could escape to Dushan!" ”
At that time, Dushan County was very small, the width of the street was about 4 meters, and the whole county town had two or three larger streets, winding on the small slopes of the county seat. The shops in the county are small and small, and there are not a single tall or new house. The whole county is simple and simple, wearing their own woven native cloth, the man is wrapped in a white cloth on his head, and the woman basically combs a bun.
But with the fall of Changsha and Hengyang, Dushan can no longer find an empty house to live in, and the rent has risen instantaneously, that is, a broken house, the rent also needs tens of thousands to rent, and it also needs to pay a one-time rent for three months or half a year.
Dushan Junior High School became the only public residence for the fleeing people in the county at that time. Originally named for its difficult construction, the "difficult building" is now worthy of its name because it is full of refugees.
Many government agencies are also crowded in Dushan, on the one hand, there is no place to work and live, on the other hand, they have to plan for a long time, so they have built their own wooden houses around the county seat. Because the house has not yet been repaired, many institutions have posted notes on the door to write the temporary office of the X Bureau, the temporary news agency of the XX Bank, the temporary transfer office of the XX factory, and so on. So much so that some people say that Dushan at that time was the place with the most exiles.
Among these fleeing crowds were some generous old ladies, who paused here and eventually headed for Guiyang and Chongqing. They were richly dressed and carried quite a few suitcases and luggage with them.
The influx of refugees has also caused prices in Dushan to soar. The price of 100 catties of rice has risen to 5,000 pieces of legal tender, and water also needs 25 yuan a carton. Despite this, the tea houses on Dushan Street were opened one after another. There are always people among the refugees who can't spend all their money, and some people have to beg along the streets for a few days.
Driven by this war, Dushan County gathered all kinds of people and all kinds of cars. The station is surrounded by a sea of people, piles of goods, dung everywhere, and although everyone is crying, it is possible to take a break.
The best business in Dushan is first of all hotels, which are actually restaurants. With the influx of refugees, in just half a year, Dushan has completely changed, and there are many shops, banks, auto repair shops, and watch shops where the name sounds fresh.
At that time, no one could tell how many people there were in Dushan. Dushan set up a municipal construction committee, which expanded the scope of Dushan's urban area by seven or eight times on the original basis. At that time, some people marveled that Dushan would soon become as lively as Chengdu, and Dushan was also called "Little Shanghai" at that time, and its temporary prosperity could be imagined.
Dushan also became the last stop of the Japanese invasion, and the Japanese army could not move forward after hitting Dushan. The once prosperous dushan county town was also destroyed by the Japanese artillery fire, and "Little Shanghai" was set on fire by the Japanese army for seven days and seven nights, and has never been able to regain the glory of that time.
