What is the difference between pigeons and regular pigeons in Pigeon Information

Racing pigeons (carrier pigeons) are a type of domestic pigeon.

  The so-called meat pigeons, play pigeons and racing pigeons, the boundaries are actually unclear, because of course, pigeons also have the value of eating and ornamentation, how should we define pigeons?

  In terms of use, pigeon racing is naturally used for racing. However, this statement is not accurate, some pigeons may spend their whole lives as breeding birds and not racing, it should be said that racing pigeons are the general term for several kinds of pigeons that people breed in order to achieve the purpose of competition, the most important of which are the pigeons that directly participate in the competition, in addition to the breeding pigeons with excellent pedigree, the breeding of the next generation as the main task, and the nanny pigeons who take care of the young birds on behalf of the parents. Some breeding and nanny pigeons may or have been racing pigeons themselves, and some have not, but the fundamental purpose of their existence is the same.

  In terms of ability, pigeons should have the characteristics of fast flight speed and strong homing ability. The strength of the pigeons in this regard is the most important thing for the pigeon owners and is the key to distinguishing them from the other two categories of pigeons. Pigeons have been cultivated and bred for a long time in terms of speed and homing, and the difference between pigeons and meat pigeons and enjoy pigeons is widening day by day.

  From the perspective of management requirements, we have no special requirements for meat pigeons and play pigeons, so there is a clear difference in management methods: meat pigeons are heavy, racing pigeons are heavy, and playing pigeons is more casual. Pigeons are trained from the young age and are similar to those of athletes in terms of the rigor of training.

  In terms of bloodline, only the pigeons attach great importance to the inheritance of the excellent characteristics of the previous generation. Meat pigeons and play pigeons usually only have breeds and no pedigree, while racing pigeons pay so much attention to pedigree that it is said that "it is better to keep the inferior pigeons in the pigeon family than the good pigeons in the inferior pigeon family". (In the language of Belgian pigeon breeder Vöblugen)

  In terms of appearance, can we recognize the pigeon at a glance, and even the quality of the pigeon? It's hard to do that. Because today, the breeds of pigeons have been quite varied, with a wide variety of shapes, such as the Italian Modena pigeon with a short round body and long legs, the British Cario pigeon has a particularly developed nose tumor and eye ring, although it is a pigeon, the strange shape is more like a playing pigeon; and the British pigeon, weighing nearly 800 grams, has the conditions of a meat pigeon but is a fast pigeon in the pigeon. However, for most pigeons, they have some basic characteristics:

   Most of the body presents a streamlined type of narrow upper width and lower width, front width and back narrow, which can effectively reduce wind resistance during flight;

   Moderate weight. 400 to 600 grams for cocks and 350 to 500 grams for hens, guaranteeing both strength and dexterity;

   Strong and elastic, symmetrical body, upright posture, eyes with spirit, loud chirping;

   Feathers are bright and tight, full of flexibility, feathers close to the body, with the ability to resist rain and wind;

   Lively and active, good at flying. The well-trained pigeons react quickly and are difficult for strangers to approach.
