On February 24, the 16th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress adopted the Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Completely Banning Illegal Wildlife Trade, Eliminating the Bad Habit of Eating Wild Animals, and Effectively Protecting the People's Life, Health and Safety, which clarifies that where the Wildlife Protection Law and other relevant laws prohibit the hunting, trading, transportation and consumption of wild animals, it must be strictly prohibited. It is completely prohibited to eat "terrestrial wild animals with important ecological, scientific and social value" protected by the state and other terrestrial wild animals, including artificially bred and artificially raised terrestrial wild animals. It is completely prohibited to hunt, trade and transport terrestrial wild animals that naturally grow and reproduce in the wild environment for the purpose of food.

After the introduction of the "fast order", Guangdong Province revised the "Regulations on the Protection and Management of Wild Animals in Guangdong Province" (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations"), becoming the first provincial-level local regulation on wildlife protection to be revised in China.

In the past six months, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and other cities have successively issued fasting regulations, Shantou and other 14 prefectures and cities have issued hunting and fasting notices, and vigorously promoted the compensation for the subsequent disposal of forbidden wild animals, and 18 cities such as Guangzhou have formulated withdrawal disposal plans or guidance.

Chen Junguang, director of the Guangdong Forestry Bureau, said that in the future, the Guangdong Forestry Bureau should continue to improve the protection of the rule of law system, continue to strengthen interdepartmental coordination and protection law enforcement supervision, effectively accelerate the protection of key species and habitats, carry out in-depth monitoring of epidemic source diseases, and take the "Protection of Wild Animals Publicity Month" activity as an opportunity to strive to create a good atmosphere for the whole society to pay attention to and protect wild animals and plants.
