There are 2 ways to catch grasshoppers.
1． Net pocket capture method
Grasshoppers are physically strong, agile, and good at jumping, so it is often impossible to catch them with bare hands. In addition, its teeth are sharp, and if it is caught by hand, it is easy to be bitten and bloody. Besides, even if it is caught, its long and thin leg will be broken if it is not careful, and the grasshopper with the broken leg will not bark for a long time after it is caught.
Experienced catchers have found that catching with a gauze mesh pocket is much better than catching with bare hands. However, when catching with a net pocket, it must not be covered from above, because this insect basically jumps down into the grass when it is frightened, so it can only be pocketed from the bottom up.
However, the net pocket capture method can only be used in meadows without thorns, etc., in the thorny bushes, the net will be hooked, and by the time the net pocket reaches below, the grasshopper has long since escaped without a trace.
2． Fishing catch method
In thorny and weedy bushes, it is suitable for catching with fishing methods. The fishing method is to take advantage of the fact that this songbird likes to eat small insects, and uses small insects to lure it to the hook like fishing. The method is: on a thin bamboo pole with a thin rope tied to a grasshopper and other insects, and then hanging on the side of the grasshopper to swing back and forth, attracting the grasshopper's heart, it will grasp the grasshopper and hold it, while loosening the original climbing branches, like a fish hooked up and not letting go, then it can be put into a pre-prepared small cage to take away.
It should be noted that the caught grasshoppers can only be kept alone in 1 cage, otherwise they will bite each other and maim and kill each other.

Because the grasshoppers are kept together and bite each other, they are kept separately. Every year, farmers in Hebei and Shanxi can be seen packing their catches in small steamed bun cages made of slices or reeds, and each person carries hundreds of thousands of them to the nearby provinces and cities to sell, and the "squeaking" sound of the grasshoppers is very lively.
From this situation, it is appropriate to feed in a similar cage, which has the advantage of being of moderate size, the grasshopper has room for activity in the cage, and the breathability is good, it can also be basked in the sun, and it can be fed food from the space.
In the breeding process, it should be noted that the sun cannot be directly exposed, and you will die of heat stroke during the hot summer. This insect prefers a well-breathable environment, and it is usually advisable to hang the cage on a well-ventilated branch or an open place. At lower temperatures, move them to sunlight for warmth. In late autumn, when the temperature drops to about 12 °C, it should be moved indoors in a warm place sheltered from the wind. If the temperature drops to about 5 ° C, the grasshopper can be moved to a small wooden box or a plastic bottle with small ventilation holes, and carried on the body to keep it warm until it survives the cold winter.
The food fed to the grasshoppers is best with edamame, and other foods such as the leaves of various vegetables and the small particles of various melons and fruits can be eaten. It is an omnivorous insect that eats rice grains, bread crumbs, and small legumes. However, in order to make it stronger and make a louder sound, it is best to feed some animal feed, such as grasshoppers, locusts, lean meat particles, etc. Feeding foods with higher nutrients can prolong their survival time.
In feeding, be careful not to feed more. When feeding edamame, 1 day should not exceed 2 grains, meat should not be fed more, can be fed 2 times a week, each time can be fed 1 grasshopper or 2 to 3 flies can be, if fed more, let it eat too much, it is lazy to chirp.
Although grasshoppers also need water, they cannot be fed specially, so that there is a little moisture in the bait such as vegetable leaves that are fed. In the summer heat and very dry air, the cage should be sprayed with water 2 to 3 times a day, which can cool down and let it drink some water droplets.
The following points should also be noted in breeding:
First, where the cage is hung or placed, it is necessary to avoid the invasion of cats, rats and other animals.
Second, do not go near the cage to light mosquito coils or spray insecticides.
Third, the cage should not be placed or hung near the coal stove to prevent it from being killed by carbon monoxide in the soot.
Fourth, feeding food should be diversified, and it is not always possible to use a certain kind of bait such as rice grains, otherwise nutritional disorders will make it difficult for it to survive to winter.
Fifth, when the temperature drop in the late autumn is large, measures should be taken in time to keep it warm and prevent freezing to death.
