"Someone jumped into the river, someone jumped into the river!" At 3:00 a.m., on the Qiyi Bridge in Gushi County, the girl's cry for help echoed on the bridge...

The girl who asked for help was Xiaoli (pseudonym), and she and her boyfriend Yang Yahui walked on the Qiyi Bridge, less than 1 kilometer from home that night. When the two walked from the west end of the bridge to the east end of the bridge and were preparing to go home, they suddenly found that someone had flipped over from the guardrail and jumped off the river with a "flutter" sound.

"We were about ten meters away from him, except for me and my girlfriend, who was alone. Before I could think about it, I jumped down. The rescue process was still quite smooth, but when he was close to the shore, he was a little uncooperative, so I dived underwater and pushed him to the shore. He resisted so much that he almost pulled me down, and finally I used what little strength I had left to get him ashore. Recalling the scene at that time, Yang Yahui was still a little afraid.

"After going ashore, the young man still wanted to take his life, so I dragged him to the bridge and comforted him as I walked, and finally the police came and took him away, so I put my mind at ease." Even though he was exhausted, Yang Yahui still firmly grasped the young man's hand.

It is understood that the rescuer Yang Yahui is a retired soldier who lives in Xinqiao Village, The Tateshi Office of Gushi County. He joined the army in September 2014 and retired from the army in October 2016, worked in Zhoukou City for one year, and returned to start a business in 2018.

The rescued young man Li Wei (pseudonym), a migrant worker in Jiangsu, was frustrated due to work pressure, and drank some wine after returning to Gushi, before choosing to jump into the river. Afterwards, through the comfort and persuasion of the police and his family, the rescued young man also said that he would no longer take his life lightly and would work and live well.
