Yangtai Yong'an Sino-US alliance, named from the Kuomintang warship, to see how strong the strength was (Yang) Yangtai Yong'an

author:I'm as light as a chrysanthemum

After the fall of the Qing Dynasty, during the Beiyang period and after the Kuomintang came to power, until the outbreak of the War of Resistance, almost no warships were added. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, when Wuhan fell, for a year or so, including the old antiques left by the Manchu Qing, all the warships that the Chinese Navy could handle were wiped out, and after the War of Resistance, the Navy relied on the only remaining torpedo boats, mine-laying boats, and small gunboats to defend the inland river.

After World War II, relying on the assistance of the United States and Britain, Japanese compensation, and the acceptance of Japanese fleet equipment in China, the Kuomintang Navy became the world's fourth largest navy after the United States, Britain, and the Soviet Union almost overnight.

After liberation, the Kuomintang defeated Taiwan, except for some uprisings, most of its navy went to Taiwan, coupled with the continuous blood transfusion of the United States, the equipment strength of the Taiwan navy was stronger than that of the mainland until the 1990s (not counting submarines). Therefore, in the 1950s and 1960s, when the Kuomintang Navy relied on its superiority in equipment to continuously blockade and harass the mainland's coastal areas, our people's navy, in the face of backward technical equipment, attacked large ships with small boats, dared to fight and dared to fight, and won many naval victories, which finally forced the Kuomintang to stop sending warships to attack and harass the mainland.

Before the new century, the naming of The Kuomintang naval warships basically followed the naming convention of "Yangtai Yong'an and Sino-US alliance." From the naming of their warships, we can see how strong the Kuomintang navy was at that time.

Due to the problem of passing the examination, its naval insignia was treated harmlessly.

Yangtai Yong'an

The Kuomintang Navy's combat ships were named yangtai (太) Yong'an.

Destroyers: Named after Yang ziwei place names, such as Danyang, Luoyang, and Shenyang.

Since the British-gifted cruiser Chongqing revolted, the most powerful warship of the Kuomintang Navy was the destroyer. The Yangzi warships of each period are as follows:

1. The Japanese warship compensated by Japan from 36 to 37 years (1947 to 1948) according to the ship name (hull number) rules:

The Danyang (12), formerly the Japanese Yukikaze (completed in 1940), participated in 16 operations and was the most famous nemesis of the Japanese Navy, and almost all the captains of Japanese warships were afraid to fight with them. About the anti-Japanese deeds of the Snow Wind Ship, another interpretation.

When Japan was defeated, Snow Wind was the only surviving and nearly damaged Japanese fleet destroyer among the 82 destroyers participating in the war, and became the flagship of the Kuomintang fleet after compensation to the Kuomintang, with the main guns being one double 127 guns and two double 100 guns. At the end of 1956, the main gun was changed to three American-made single-barrel 127 mm naval guns.

The Nationalist army did not care about the Japanese equipment it received, probably because there were American uncles, and other Japanese warships were not well utilized. It was converted to a training ship in December 1965, with the bottom of the ship broken in 1969 and disintegrated in 1971. It is excessive that the authorities behind the disintegration went so far as to return the steering wheel and anchor to Japan.

Shinyo (15, 82), formerly the Japanese Hatsume.

Fenyang, Shenyang, Hengyang, Huayang, Huiyang (stranded and scrapped upon reception). As a training ship, it was not given a hull number.

2. The first batch of AMERICAN aid received after 1954

In the 1950s, China purchased four destroyers from the Soviet Union, which is known as the Anshan class four King Kongs. At the same time, Taiwan also had a Taiwanese version of the Four King Kongs, and the delivery time of the first ship was eight months earlier than that of our Anshan ship. The four Taiwanese ships are American-made Benson/Grives-class destroyers. The same is that both sides attach great importance to the King Kong, the difference is that before the 051 service, we Anshan, Fushun, Changchun, and Taiyuan supported half of the sky of the Republic's Navy in the wind and rain, and made great achievements for the Republic. And Taiwan's King Kong is a big miss, raised in the deep boudoir basking in the sun.

Luoyang (14), decommissioned and decommissioned in 1974. The original U.S. Navy's Mayo class was the first ship, the Benson (built in 1938), one of the main destroyers of the United States during World War II, with a total of 32 ships built. In the Pacific and Atlantic naval battles, they achieved good results. The picture below is the Benson/Luoyang.

During the Battle of The Iron Bottom Bay on Guadalcanal (in which the Tanyang/Snow Wind ships also participated), the Benson-class Rafi bravely rushed to the Japanese battleship Hiei after the sinking of the flagship Heavy Cruiser Atlanta and another destroyer, where she was beaten and eventually sunk. After the sinking of the Rafi, the Burton of the same class continued to fight and was sunk again. Below is an oil painting depicting the Rafi.

Hanyang (15), Mayo (Benson) class.

Basic parameters of the Benson level:

Crew: 208 (276 in wartime)

Maximum speed: 37.5 knots

Displacement: 1840/2470 tons (standard / full load)

Armament: 5 127mm main guns (later built as 4); 2 x 5-mounted 533mm torpedo tubes; 6 x 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine guns; 2 quad 28 mm Chicago organs; 2 depth charges drop rails

Xianyang (16), the U.S. Gleaves (Grives class) destroyer, this class of ships is a modified version of the Benson class, because the difference between the two is not much, sometimes the Benson class and the Grevies class as a class, called the Benson/Grevs class. A total of 62 ships of this class were built.

At the time of the Normandy landings, a significant number of ships of the class were included in the black-pressed Allied fleet on the surface of the sea, of which the Kony (DD463) and the Glennon (DD620) were sunk by German artillery deployed along the Normandy coast on 6 and 10 June, respectively.

The Xianyang warship of the National Army is a famous unlucky egg. On 14 January 1956, when returning from the United States, there was a collision with a Colombian warship in Panama's port of Balboa, which was then overhauled, repaired and then walked back. On November 11, 1957, while participating in the exercise at Cape Pak Sha, I collided again, and I had an impact with a wingman, so let's fix it! On May 18, 1969, the Xianyang warship followed the junior Fletcher-class Kunyang ship through the waters near Matsu, passing through a waterway at a low speed of 18 knots, and Kunyang, whose draft was deeper than hers, was fine, and when it was the turn of the Xianyang warship to pass, it actually hit the reef! This made the principal angry, threatened to shoot the captain of the Xianyang ship, and after interceding, sentenced the captain to ten years in prison.

Xianyang (II) (16,1016), formerly the USS Malcomb, was transferred to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force in October 1954 and renamed Flag Wind. After the Xianyang ship was scrapped in 1969, it was transferred to the Taiwan Navy in 1970. Drinking cold water when unlucky can also stuff teeth, this Xianyang ship has been well in the Sea of Japan, and it was retired shortly after coming to Taiwan.

Suiyang (926), Yunyang (927), Zhengyang (928), Shaoyang (929), Ziyang (930)

Before the 1990s, if aircraft carriers, submarines and other factors were removed, the Taiwan Navy was only second to the United States and the Soviet Union in terms of destroyer fleet strength, and stronger than Britain, France and Japan.

In the early 1990s, Taiwan leased (actually sold by the United States around the three communiques) Knox-class frigates, and the Jiyang-class ship type, which was later improved, although still "Yang" was still a "Yang" name, was no longer a destroyer.

There are a total of 8 Jiyang-class cruisers:

Jiyang (932, decommissioned on 1 May 2015), Fengyang (933), Fenyang (II) (934),

Lanyang (935), Haiyang (936, decommissioned on 1 May 2015), Huaiyang (937),

Ningyang (938), Yiyang (939)

In addition to the Jiyang class, the existing patrol ships of the Taiwan military also have the Kangding class and the Chenggong class.

Kanding-class cruisers, prototyped as The French Navy's Lafayette-class stealth frigates, consist of 6 ships:

Kangding (1202), Xining (1203), Kunming (1205),

Dihua (1206, Dihua is the old name of Urumqi), Wuchang (1207), Chengde (1208).

The Success-class cruiser, an improved version of the U.S. Navy's Perry-class frigates, consists of 10 ships:

1101 Chenggong, 1103 Zheng He, 1105 Jiguang, 1106 Yue Fei, 1107 Ziyi,

1108 Ban Chao, 1109 Zhang Qian, 1110 Tian Dan, 1112 Ming Chuan, 1115 Feng Jia.

The existing destroyers of the Taiwan military are the Kidd class. The ship was designed on the basis of spruance-class destroyers, originally intended to be sold to Iran, and was taken over by the U.S. Navy after the overthrow of the Pahlavi dynasty. In 1999, the US Military Kidd class was all retired, and from 2005 to 2006, the United States successively handed over these ships to Taiwan. The class of ships emphasizes air defense, the sea capability is not strong, the air defense capability is stronger than the 052 and the Modern class, 052B is comparable, weaker than the 052C. Four ships in total:

Keelung (hull number 1801), Su'ao (hull number 1802), Zuoying (hull number 1803), Magong (hull number 1805).

These four "classic ships" that began construction in the late 1970s became the four kings of the Taiwan Navy.
