Demystify the Luanchuan insect world and see what you've seen?

On November 15, the first county-level insect specimen room in Luanchuan County, located at the lower station of Luanchuan Station of Luoluan Expressway, was opened to the public.

The herbarium has an area of 80 square meters, with 8 orders and 53 families of various insect specimens, 1100 adult and larval specimens, mainly coleoptera and lepidoptera insects. The herbarium exhibits China's largest golden butterfly with a wingspan of 150 mm, as well as insects of the silkworm family such as the gorgeous golden butterfly, the citrus butterfly of the butterfly family, the colorful silkworm moth, the ginkgo pearl silkworm moth, the green-tailed silkworm moth and other silkworm moths.

Double-spotted allurnate, oblique-winged pink celestial bull, curved-tooth sawn celestial bull, window ear leafhopper, green true bug, brown-spotted dorsal horn flower golden turtle, etc. are all collected by the staff in the prefecture for the first time and made into specimens for display.

The specimen room was fully invested by the Luanchuan County Forestry Bureau, and the professional and technical personnel of the county forest defense station lasted 3 years of investigation and specimen collection and production.

According to reports, insects are the largest taxon in the animal kingdom, both in terms of the number of individuals and the number of species in the entire animal kingdom, and they occupy a very important position in biodiversity. The herbarium is the first county-level professional insect specimen room in Luoyang City, the next step will become an important biological insect science popularization base in the county to the outside world, the exhibited insect specimens will continue to be supplemented and improved with follow-up discoveries, welcome the general public to visit.
