Thousands of ordinary cormorants inhabit the ecological island of The Garden Garden.
Cormorants circled up.
According to a report by the Haixi Morning Post on January 5, the cold wind blew through, blowing a pool of clear water, and thousands of ordinary cormorants swirled and swirled, and the scene was very spectacular. Recently, this video has swept the circle of friends of many citizens. The location of this video is xiamen garden expo garden. Recently, the morning newspaper reporter and the staff of the Garden Expo Court took a boat to visit the cormorant's foothold in Xiamen.
Apricot Bay boating, swaying towards the lake. In the distance, I saw a black shadow on the surface of the water. Ling Feihe, a member of the Xiamen Bird Watching Association, introduced that this group of black shadows is ordinary cormorants, which are winter migratory birds in Xiamen. Every autumn and winter, they fly from the north to the south for the winter, and stay until April of the following year.
A body of black feathers that glow bronze in the sun. With big eyes and apricot-yellow cheeks, the common cormorant resembles a calm lady. They are also good fishermen and are good at diving and catching fish. Only to see them half jump out of the water, and then turn into the water, and in a short while they can catch the fish that jumps around alive.
It is understood that in Cihu Lake on Kinmen Island, thousands of ordinary cormorants winter every year. During the day they will fly to the Xiajin Sea to forage for food, and at night they will return to the woods around Cihu Lake to rest. Interestingly, in recent years, many ordinary cormorants have stopped running between the two places, but have chosen to stay on the ecological island of the Garden Expo Garden, and the number is increasing. At present, there are tens of thousands of ordinary cormorants observed in the Garden Expo Garden.
Why do cormorants linger in the Garden Expo? Ling Feihe said that the Garden Expo Garden has sufficient food, and the superior ecological environment attracts ordinary cormorants to "leave their hometowns" to settle here. The reporter saw that the ecological island was planted with vegetation such as casuarina and added wooden stakes for birds to inhabit. Common cormorants especially prefer to perch on casuarina, densely arranged. From a distance, the trees looked as black as ink.
In addition to ordinary cormorants, there are also many small egrets and great egrets on the ecological island. They seem to have long been accustomed to getting along with people, and even when they see ships approaching, they still stand leisurely on wooden stakes. In addition to herons, wild ducks, etc., there are more than 20 species of winter migratory birds that can be observed in the Garden Expo Garden.

Autumn and winter are a good time for bird watching in Xiamen. Winter migratory birds dragged their families to Xiamen, some camped here, and some continued to transit south. In Egret Island Park, two petite sparrows jump on the railing, a red-eared bird with black feathers on the branches seems to be angry and rushes to the crown, and the white-breasted bitter bird on the grass shouts "bitter" while jumping in stride, and the scene is not lively.
The Xiamen Botanical Garden is even more roaring. Next to the yellow-waisted willow warbler, which sounded like a cicada, hovered a sunbird sucking nectar. On the surface of the water, a kingfisher with green feathers flew by, waving in a circle of ripples.
Ling Feihe reminded that the public should pay attention to civilized bird watching when viewing birds. Try to see birds in their natural state and don't interfere with the drive. You can choose to wear clothes that are dark or camouflaged, too bright to make birds wary, and don't use flash.
In order to facilitate bird watching for citizens and friends, a bird watching map in autumn and winter has been prepared for everyone.
