Hainan gibbon is classified as critically endangered by the IUCN, one of the 25 endangered primate species in the world, and is currently only distributed in the pilot area of the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park System, and is an indicator species of the authenticity and integrity of the Hainan tropical rainforest.

The Number of Hainan Gibbons has reached 35 from a minimum of 7-9, based on the method of natural recovery, through scientific and effective conservation. According to IUCN experts, among the 20 species of gibbons in the world, the Hainan gibbon is the only species that can maintain a slow population growth.

According to Jin Jincheng, director of the Hainan Provincial Forestry Bureau, on March 2 and March 3 this year, the Hainan Gibbon Monitoring Team of the Bawangling Branch of the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park Administration found that a new baby ape was added to the B group and D group of Hainan gibbons, which were 7 months and 6 months old, respectively, and continuous monitoring showed that the two baby apes were in good health and had normal growth and development. The population of the Hainan gibbon has recovered to 35 in 5 groups.

Golden City said that Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park has classified more than 95% of the primary forest, more than 55% of the natural forest and the most important area in the ecological location of Hainan Island as a pilot area, and has taken the strengthening of the research and protection of the Hainan gibbon as the top priority of the pilot of the national park system; the establishment of a national park research institute open to the world will carry out a global joint research on the protection of the gibbon in Hainan. This time, the Hainan gibbon likes to add baby apes, indicating that its living environment and living conditions are steadily improving, and natural ecological spaces such as the Hainan tropical rainforest have been restored and expanded.
