On April 27, 2017, with the ministry of national defense spokesman Yang Yujun announced that the army will be reorganized into 13 group armies. 68th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (1949.3-1985.8)
On February 1, 1949, in accordance with the order of the Central Military Commission of November 1, 1948 on the unification of the whole army and the number of troops, the 7th Column of the North China Military Region was renamed the 68th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
