His legal status as emperor has never been recognized by the canonical histories of the dynasties, but their beggars who "will be princes and princes will have a kind of kindness" and the brief glory they established have had a major impact on future generations.

In 1908, 17-year-old Baoding Army Officer School student Wan Yaohuang and classmate Geng Zhongzhao detoured to Shanghai to Wuchang to participate in the revolutionary uprising, before the incident, the two decided to browse the local scenery first, when they climbed the Snake Mountain where the Yellow Crane Tower is located, they were surprised to find that there is an ancient tomb at the foot of the mountain, which is engraved with the four big characters of "People Repair Heavenly Determination", and there is a small line below: Chen Youyu Tomb. Near the tombstone, it is already a desert and rarely cared for.
Wan Yaohuang, one of the discoverers, eventually became a prominent figure in the Republic of China, participating in the Xinhai Revolution and the Protector's War, and the official was the supreme general, and in 1912, the Hubei Provincial Department of Internal Affairs decided to maintain the tomb of Chen Youyi, a forgotten imperial mausoleum, which has since been displayed in front of the world.

According to the historical records, Chen Youyu was the son of a fisherman in Qiuyang who came from a poor family and occasionally served as a small official in the county when he was young, Chen Youyu "read a little, slightly understood the meaning of the text, had excellent strength, and idly studied martial arts", so he had a great reputation in the countryside.
In the mid-13th century, with the outbreak of the vigorous peasant revolt at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, Chen Youyu also led his villagers into the troops of Xu Shouhui of the Red Turban Army and was appointed as a marshal.
He made many military achievements under Xu Shouhui, and in 1357, Xu Shouhui's forces rebelled against Ni Wenjun, and Chen Youyu took the opportunity to kill him, and annexed all of Ni Wenjun's troops, claiming to be the government of Pingzhang, and his ambitions were gradually exposed.
In 1360, with the collapse of the Yuan court's rule in the Jiangnan region, Chen Youyu took advantage of the rise, his sphere of influence, including the area around Ganzhou on Jianchang Road in Jiangxi, and then to Anhui, and the leader Xu Shouhui became a puppet, and was eventually killed by Chen Youyi, and by 1360, Chen Youyu then killed Xu Shouhui with iron, with the quarry rock of Ma'anshan in Anhui as the capital, and took the opportunity to ascend to the emperor's throne, the name of the country, with the intention of restoring Huaxia as a slogan to attract the world.
At this time, Chen Youyu's military strength was much higher than That of Zhu Yuanzhang, but Zhu Yuanzhang was better at commanding the army than Chen Youyu, and repeatedly defeated the strong with weakness, and in 1361, Zhu Yuanzhang launched an attack on Anqing, breaking Chen Youyu's water army and occupying Jiangzhou.
After the loss of territory, Chen Youyu was furious, and in 1363, he personally led 600,000 troops to fight with Zhu Yuanzhang at Poyang Lake, but on the water, Zhu Yuanzhang's flexible boats gave full play to their advantages and burned Chen Youyu's large ships, and Chen Youyu himself was also killed by arrows in the rebel army.
Chen Youyu's remnant Zhang Dingbian fled back to Wuchang with his body and the crown prince Chen Li to continue to maintain power, and Chen Youyu was also buried here, but at this time, Chen Han was already surviving.
In 1364, Zhu Yuanzhang's army suppressed the territory, Chen Li chose Kaesong to surrender, was named the Marquis of Guide, and was sent to Goryeo by the suspicious Zhu Yuanzhang to settle down, according to legend, Chen Youyi's tombstone "Human Cultivation Of Heaven" was inscribed by Zhu Yuanzhang when he personally paid tribute.
However, after the Battle of Jingnan, Chen Youyu's tomb was gradually forgotten until it was rediscovered in the 20th century, and then successive regional governments repaired it.
Up to now, the magnificent Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge has been built around the tomb of Chen Youyi, and it still stands here, watching the traffic.
