In the face of Song Chengjie's deeds, the discipline inspection department made a severe criticism: "As a leading cadre of party members in the political and legal system, Song Chengjie has betrayed his original mission, lost the principle of party spirit, was disloyal and dishonest to the party, and deceived the organization; the concept of power was distorted, turning the power of organization and personnel into a tool for seeking private interests, seriously undermining the party's system of selecting and appointing people, appointing people to nepotism, appointing people only for power, and appointing people for money, wantonly selling officials and lords, coveting money and wealth, and corrupting the family style, seriously damaging the party's cause and image, and seriously undermining the political ecology of the units where he works." His behavior has seriously violated discipline and the law, and he is suspected of accepting bribes, using influence to accept bribes, recruiting civil servants for personal gain and fraud, and crimes of having a huge amount of assets of unknown origin, and he still has not reined in or accepted after the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which is extremely serious in nature and has an extremely bad impact, and should be dealt with severely. ”

Song Chengjie's downfall is only a microcosm of the recent strong anti-corruption efforts in the judicial system, and a number of officials who hold important leadership positions in the provincial department of justice have been investigated across the country. Since 2020 alone, there have been several cases worth noting:

On June 12, 2020, Chen Dongqiao, former party secretary and director of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Department of Justice and former first political commissar of the Ningxia Autonomous Region Prison Administration, was expelled from the party and dismissed from public office. After investigation, Chen Dongqiao violated the spirit of the eight provisions of the central authorities and the discipline of honesty and honesty, accepted gifts; violated organizational discipline, did not truthfully explain problems to the organization when the organization conducted correspondence inquiries, sought benefits for others and accepted money and property in the course of cadre transfers; violated honest discipline, obtained large returns through private lending, borrowed funds from management service recipients free of charge, and used his power to seek benefits for his relatives' business activities, and was suspected of accepting bribes.

On November 21, Wu Tiecheng, former member of the party committee and deputy director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Department of Justice, was expelled from the party and expelled from public office for serious violations of discipline and law. After investigation, Wu Tiecheng lost his ideals and convictions, deviated from his original mission, was disloyal and dishonest to the party, and resisted organizational scrutiny; violated the spirit of the eight provisions of the central authorities and accepted gifts in violation of regulations; violated organizational principles, did not report personal matters in accordance with regulations, sought benefits for others in the work of selecting and appointing cadres, and gave away property and goods to personnel engaged in public service; used his position to facilitate the long-term occupation of unit vehicles for family use, and took possession of unit property for himself; acted as a "protective umbrella" for underworld organizations; greedy for money and amassed wealth, and only profit was sought. Take public power as a tool for seeking private interests, take advantage of the convenience of one's position or the convenience of one's authority or position, and seek benefits for others and accept money and goods in the selection and appointment of cadres and the contracting of engineering projects.

On December 24, Xu Hongguang, former member of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Department of Justice and former deputy secretary of the Party Committee and director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Prison Administration, was expelled from the party for serious violations of discipline and the law. After investigation, Xu Hongguang lost his ideals and convictions and the principles of party spirit, was disloyal and dishonest to the party, resisted organizational censorship, did not believe in Marxism-Leninism,, believed in ghosts and gods, and engaged in feudal and superstitious activities; ignored the spirit of the eight central regulations and accepted gifts; did not report personal matters in accordance with regulations, accepted property from others in the process of selecting and appointing cadres; damaged public wealth and private interests, used his power to occupy public housing, sought private interests for individuals and relatives, and engaged in power and sex transactions; forgot about public affairs privately, abused his power to interfere in judicial activities; did not attach importance to the building of family style, neglected to manage his spouses, and violated the law in law enforcement He was "hunted" by businessmen, used his position to facilitate the profit of others in prison project contracting, equipment procurement, etc., and illegally accepted huge amounts of money.

If we pull back the time, it is not difficult to find that the "anti-corruption sword" of the judicial system is not only directed at the judicial organs of local provinces and districts, but also the Ministry of Justice has also problem officials who have been investigated. On May 25, 2017, Lu Enguang, a former member of the Party Group and director of the Political Department of the Ministry of Justice, was expelled from the party and dismissed from public office for serious violations of discipline. After Lu Enguang was investigated, he was called "five false cadres". After investigation, Lu Enguang's age, materials for joining the party, work experience, academic qualifications, family situation, and so on were comprehensively falsified, and he deceived the organization for a long time; money opened the way, all the way to pull relations to buy officials and seek honors, and gradually transformed from a private business owner into a deputy ministerial-level cadre; he also controlled and operated a number of enterprises and sought benefits for enterprises through improper means; and resisted organizational censorship. In order to seek improper benefits in the promotion of posts, business operations, etc., and to give huge amounts of money and property to state functionaries, he is suspected of the crime of bribery.

In the judicial system, another deputy director was expelled from the party

On October 30, 2018, the Intermediate People's Court of Anyang City, Henan Province, publicly pronounced a verdict in the case of Lu Enguang's bribery and bribery by the unit, sentenced Lu Enguang to 11 years' imprisonment and a fine of 2 million yuan for the crime of bribery, and sentenced him to two years' imprisonment and a fine of 1 million yuan for the crime of bribery by the unit, and decided to carry out the fixed-term imprisonment for 12 years and a fine of 3 million yuan; the stolen money and fruits used by Lu Enguang for bribery were confiscated in accordance with law.

Shortly after Lu Enguang was expelled from the party and public office, his "old boss," Wu Aiying, the former party secretary and minister of the Ministry of Justice who had been in charge of the Ministry of Justice for 12 years, was also "officially announced" to be expelled from the party in October 2017, eight months after leaving office. From Lu Enguang and Wu Aiying to Song Chengjie, these judicial system officials, although involved in different issues, have seriously polluted the political atmosphere of the judicial system and deserve to be severely punished. Cadres in the judicial system should have known the law and understood the law, and some people in high positions not only failed to set an example by example, but instead tried the law by example and did things that exceeded the bottom line. Adhering to the bottom line of the law and defending the dignity of the law should be the self-requirement of all cadres in the judicial system, and cadres at all levels need to bear this in mind.
