The National Zhou Peiyuan College Students Mechanics Competition is a scientific and technological activity for college students entrusted by the Ministry of Education and co-sponsored by the Chinese Mechanics Society and the Zhou Peiyuan Foundation, which is held every two years. The competition is divided into individual competition and team competition, of which the team competition is divided into two parts: "Theoretical Design and Operation" and "Basic Mechanics Experiment". The "Basic Mechanics Experiment" team competition is divided into two parts, with a comprehensive experimental competition on July 26 and a written test for experimental principles on July 27.
Today, on the field, the students of 36 teams are busy doing experimental design, and the participants in the practical exercise part of the team competition need to design experiments according to the topics and complete the assessment of the topics. It mainly examines the students' ability to design experiments, that is, the use of force transducers to calculate the force and deformation state of objects based on the relevant data generated by the strain gauges attached to the specimen, so as to cultivate students' hands-on ability, innovation ability and teamwork spirit.
During the competition, each team selected 3 students to play and cooperate with each other. There is a comprehensive experimental platform and strain gauge placed on the field, one student is mainly responsible for pasting the strain gauge on the specimen of the integrated platform, one student assists in attaching the strain gauge, and the other student is responsible for the collation of experimental data. "When a specimen comes down, we paste the strain gauge, and then connect the strain gauge with the strain gauge, and the strain gauge will produce some data, and we can do the analysis." Hu Jiachun, a sophomore at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, introduced.
Hu Jiachun told reporters that in early July, they actively participated in the preparation of the event, training according to the content of the real questions every day, and also learning basic applications such as welding electric soldering irons. "The competition mainly assesses the content of disciplines such as "Mechanics of Materials" and "Theoretical Mechanics", and the participation has exercised our hands-on practical ability." Hu Jiachun said.
"This competition is full of talents every year, students who have studied mechanics well, and have strong logical thinking skills. Learning mechanics well also requires hard work, but also requires a certain talent. We hold this competition to stimulate students' interest in mechanics learning and improve their hands-on ability. Liu Lisheng, deputy dean of the School of Science of Wuhan University of Technology and executive director of the Hubei Mechanics Society, introduced.
