The 24th Shanghai International Film Festival SIFF PROJECT will be held from June 12 to 15, 2021, and the finalists for the "Work in Progress Project" section are officially announced.
The SIFF PROJECT "Project in Production" unit was established in 2018, mainly for projects that have started shooting or are in post-production, and are committed to providing targeted support for projects in post-production, domestic and foreign distribution, film festival promotion and other aspects. This unit received a total of 46 project applications this year, and after the selection of the judging committee, a total of 9 projects were shortlisted, of which 7 were the director's first feature films.

The story takes place in a Dai village near the border in Xishuangbanna. The dai monk Yan Hanjian said goodbye to the friends he knew because of fireflies, and also said goodbye to his childhood. The project is currently in post-production. Director Liu Quanwen graduated from the Directing Department of the Beijing Film Academy, and the past documentary "One Year at burma Temple" won the best documentary short film of the 2019 New Era Youth Film Season, the Tencent Guyu Award, and the drama short film "To See the Train" won the CALL Top Ten Era Short Films.

As the first work of the new director, the audiovisual maturity is exquisite, the color design and use are excellent, and the story rhythm is steady and steady, which is rare to see.

Director Lingyun Long graduated from Central Saint Martins School of Art, London University of the Arts. In 2017, this project was shortlisted for incubation at the Shanghai International Film Festival venture capital training camp, and then in 2018, it was shortlisted for the "Young Director Project" unit of film project venture capital, and the following year it was shortlisted for the top 5 of the 4th Green Onion Project.
The photography is stunning, the art is careful, and several protagonists are portrayed with color very well, and the casting is also relatively successful. The theme is clearly expressed, the foundation is solid and delicate, the narrative is complete, and the overall tone and performance are above the horizontal line, which is worth looking forward to.

The story takes the war as the background, tells the interaction between soldiers and civilians, and blurs the boundary between soldiers and civilians while confronting good and evil, and presents the absurdity behind the war.
