【2018 New Dinosaur】Thanosurus
Thanos simonattoi, the genus name comes from Marvel villain Thanos, and the species name is named after fossil discoverer Sérgio Simonatto. It is used with such a domineering name, but it is not domineering in itself.

Thanosurus was a medium-sized theropod dinosaur that lived in the São José Formation of the Preto River in Brazil during the late Cretaceous period. The specimen (MPMA 08–0016/95) is a largely complete mesenchymal body that was nearing adulthood at the time of death, with an estimated body length of 5.5 to 6.5 m. Although the specimens are very limited, skeletal features suggest that Thanosurus belonged to the allosaurs of the Abeliosaurus class, more derived from other Abeliosaurus dinosaurs of the same period.
