On October 1st, national day, Three juniors from the Department of Archives and Government Information of the School of Information Management of Wuhan University, Jiang Dingqi, Du Xitao and Wang Xinyu, came to Huaguo Village in Huanghaokou Town to conduct research on matters related to poverty alleviation in the village.
According to team leader Jiang Dingqi, this is a national-level project of the Wuhan University College Students Innovation Training Project, "The collection, archiving and collation of oral records of poverty alleviation - taking Huaguo Village in Huanghaokou Town, Yangxin County as an example". Mainly understand the relevant situation before the poverty alleviation of Huaguo Village, investigate the relevant industries and methods that help Huaguo Village get rid of poverty, investigate the current development of Huaguo Village after poverty alleviation, and interview the main personnel involved in the poverty alleviation work of Huaguo Village.
In 2014, Huaguo Village was rated as a provincial key poor village, with a collective economic income of almost zero, and is a well-known poor mountain village.
In 2015, the party committee and government of Huanghaokou Town firmly seized the opportunity of the Yangxin County Discipline Inspection Commission Supervision Committee to help in the village, and did a good job in the ideological work of Liang Sanxue, a "rich and capable person" who did business in the township, and let him return to the village as the secretary of the party branch.
In the past six years, under the guidance of the village-based task force and the Party Committee of Huangyingkou Town, the "two committees" of the village have relied on the cultivation of flowers and fruits to cultivate and expand characteristic industries, and through rational planning of land circulation, improve and develop the planting area of citrus, loquat, bayberry, kiwi fruit and other high-quality fruits nearly 600 mu, 200 mu of rice and shrimp continuous cropping base, and more than 180 mu of organic vegetable base.
In 2018, the village's collective economic income was 130,000 yuan per year, and the whole village was lifted out of poverty. In recent years, the village's collective economic income has increased year by year, reaching a maximum of 200,000 yuan. Huaguo Village adheres to the concept of "party building leads to promote development and create a beautiful flower and fruit livable village", and has achieved a gorgeous turn from a weak and scattered village, a key poor village to a "beautiful and livable village in Hubei Province".
In the summer of 2018, the village demolished the idle adobe houses and built a new cultural square and a folk culture hall of more than 300 square meters in the same place. The Folk Culture Center has become an educational base, with 1,000 visitors at the peak of holidays.
Li Xiangyue, a successful entrepreneur in a foreign country, returned to his hometown to circulate more than 100 acres of land and founded the Yangxin Yashan Ecological Planting and Breeding Cooperative; Liang Chuanpeng returned to his hometown to invest 2.7 million yuan to open a homestay farm; Ye Liang and Zhang Chunguang returned to their hometown to invest 2.8 million yuan to build a flower and fruit water park...
On weekends, the village is bustling with tourists. After entering the tourist season, the village receives an average of 2,000 tourists per day. In November 2020, Huaguo Village was selected as a "National Forest Village". In March 2021, it was awarded the title of "Red Flag Party Branch" by the Organization Department of the Huangshi Municipal Party Committee, and in April, it was awarded the title of "Civilized Village" by the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and the Hubei Provincial People's Government.
