Last year, "Summer of the Band" became popular with the "talking" Wutiao band, making them the darlings of major variety shows and advertisements, and the chair orchestra from Taiwan is probably the "least talkative" band among them. They are low-key, gentle and spontaneous, and no matter what happens, they always have a smile on their faces, as if nothing in this world will bother them.
When this tenderness collided with music, they soothed many tired hearts and attracted many like-minded fans, which made them a very iconic and new force in the Taiwanese orchestra, and made them the "busiest" band in 2021.
At the beginning of the year, the 2020 Chair Orchestra "I Love To Chase Your Self" tour has not yet come to an end, and it was not until March 13 that they officially concluded the journey. After a short break, on June 4, 2021, the Chair Orchestra opened a new round of tour with its new album "Real Love Is...", and the first stop was in Beijing. Recently, they performed three times at the Guangzhou Sound Republic Livehouse!
According to incomplete statistics from Nandu reporters, this year, they walked through 22 cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, held 39 tours, and participated in 3 music festivals.
Despite the intensive performances, they have also experienced uncertainties such as restart, postponement, and cancellation under the epidemic. At the end of the 2021 "Real Love Is..." tour, the Chair Orchestra regrets announcing the cancellation of performances at Tianjin and Qingdao.

The fun behind the busyness
If the Queen's Suitcase is the "most Buddhist" Taiwanese band, then the chair orchestra is undoubtedly the "most diligent". This year, they toured, participated in music festivals, wrote new songs, and arranged their lives to the fullest.
Although they say that they have time to rest and will not feel particularly tired, but who really will not be tired? They just find an outlet for a busy life and know how to have fun in the midst of busyness.
Southern Metropolis Daily: Do you feel tired when the tour is so densely arranged this year?
YongJing: Although we have a lot of performances this year, the row is a little looser, it will not be all the time (continuous rotation), and when we were most intensive before, we may sing for four consecutive days at a time. This time it will be avoided as much as possible, and it is okay, there will be a gap (rest) in the middle.
Zhongying: Yes, after we have a longer time, we will be a little more relaxed. Because after all, the performance has been performing since June, and it has been more than October, more than four months, so (arranged) our physical strength is also relatively loadable.
Nandu: So there is a deliberate time to rest and buffer?
Yong Jing: We also have adjusted our ideas this time, after all, it has become a relatively normal job, and then I also want to say that since we are all touring, then we will take advantage of the time, if there is a different place, we will go for a walk.
Nandu: Where to go?
Yong Jing: When we went to Kunming to finish the performance, we just had a big free time, so we went to the rain crash on foot.
Zhongying: We walked on the rain crash for about 8 hours, quite tired, in fact, my feet are about to be scrapped, but the next day I still went to the rain crash. Thinking that they are coming, they still have to go.
Nandu: If you are too tired, you can ride a mule in Yubang, do you have a ride?
Zhongying: No. The funny thing is that Yong Jing was kicked by a mule.
YongJing: It (the mule) passed me and then it kicked the ground and had a big bruise on it, but it's fine now.
Zhongying: Another interesting thing is that when we went to Shenyang, we went to take a bath, because Taiwan didn't.
Nandu: It hurts to take a bath in the north, can you accept it?
Zhongying: I asked him to have a little force, I said I came from the south, the first time to rub. He said, oh, pretty easy, rubbing me this kind of easy, no need to exert force.
Nandu: During this tour, what was the most beautiful photo of Polaroid in your heart (instantly)?
Yong Jing: We have a song called "Thirty Of the Most Beautiful Photos of Summer", and there are several performances where everyone sings together, which is very special to me. Because it was so hard for me to sing, I didn't think everyone could sing it together, and it was spontaneous, so I thought it was good.
Bo Yuan: I have the impression that "Paradise... How Far？ This song, some times will hear a chorus (quite unexpectedly), because this song is not like "Rollin'on", everyone will naturally sing together. So when I hear it, I think, oh, you remember English very well.
Zhongying: I remember that it seems to be in Hefei, singing "Suggestions are to See the Opening Point" to beat the beat, is the most people I have seen at present with us (beat), it is very happy, everyone has integrated into us.
Be a little slower behind efficiency
The chair orchestra is like a fool flying in time and space, they always seem to find the beauty of life, always find a happy outlet for all negative emotions, let the fans flee with them to the end of the coastline, and lie on the carpet of the tree house together to watch the passage of time. Perhaps because of this concern for life, their musical picture sense is very strong. Listening to their songs is like listening to a story, or watching a movie.
Nandu: In this year's busy itinerary, you also released new songs, what is the secret to such efficient output?
Yong Jing: In fact, there are still songs that have been written that have not been released and are being produced.
I've been practicing a little slower lately. If I really want to say the secret of efficiency, it may be because of my creative habits, I think everything in life can be inspired, so for me, I need to make up for what my own ideas are in each period. Sometimes, the idea of this period will overturn the idea of the previous period, it will make me feel invisible, and I have to put a lot of effort into dealing with it. Then these processes will be recorded, some will become songs, some will be written into a short text or other form, and then one day it will gather with the music and become a new song.
Nandu: What kind of story is the new song "Our Place" and "Archie's Funeral" singing?
Yong Jing: "Our Place" is the pull between its own inherent order and this borderless world. I know that I actually want to see more, I want to break those boundaries, but you will have a lot of pain in the process, and you will slowly find valuable places. This song is the precious place to write this pull and discover yourself.
Archie's Funeral is about the death of Archie (Grandma Wing Jing's dog), but I didn't really write the song with particular sadness. Our Archie chased the rabbit in the park and jumped into the water and left, it felt as if the script was written, usually there was no rabbit, but after the rabbit came, it seemed to lead it to death, and it felt very wonderful. Later, I read a book is Hawking's "A Brief History of the Universe", and I read some popular science on the Internet, and learned that the universe is so huge, it is full of all kinds of probabilities and possibilities, and we are so small compared to the universe, so if everything has its own arrangement or destiny, it seems that it is not so difficult to understand.
Nandu: Do you usually read a lot of books or poems? Every song of the chair always has soft and precise words that hit the heart.
YongJing: I was not a very book-loving person, but this year I let myself cultivate this habit, contact poetry, contact some of my own interests, and slowly know which topics I like more.
Nandu: What will your next album look like?
Yongjing: We rarely preset the theme of the album. Like "Our Place," it's a start, but if I take a step further, what do I see? What new ideas do I have in the face of it? My next creation may be pondered in this aspect, but not necessarily.
Nandu: When is it expected to come out?
Yongjing: Next year, it should be next year.
The loneliness behind the tenderness
Whether it's music or people, the chair orchestra is like a comfortable lazy chair, gentle enough to make people want to nestle in and enjoy lazy and casual time. Their gentleness is a consolation and healing medicine in the busy life of fans, but fans do not know that this gentleness is also full of loneliness.
Nandu: Sang "Rollin'on" and "Paradise" so many times... How Far？ Will there be new feelings?
Yongjing: There will be new feelings. For example, "Paradise... How Far？ In fact, I sometimes secretly changed the lyrics, and one of the choruses was Like one of those lonely nights, in the diamond spotlight, which I changed to lovely nights, which was also cute. That is, sometimes the mentality will be a little different, in the past sometimes on the stage will feel lonely, but now sometimes feel that do not think, you go to immerse, to feel, in fact, every change of feeling is particularly beautiful, so I secretly changed to lovely nights.
Nandu: Why do you feel lonely on stage?
YongJing: How to say this, I kind of forget what I felt like when I actually wrote this lyric at that time, but sometimes, there is often this feeling of alienation, not necessarily on the stage. It's a bit like a philosophical proposition, creation is to try to pass on your spiritual or some inner thoughts, but the philosophical proposition is that you can never know the other person's thoughts, that is, you have no way to verify this thing, and then knowing this thing sometimes makes me feel lonely.
Nandu: You said in the interview before that part of the reason for the suspension is that there are contradictions between each other, so how do you solve the contradictions when you get along day and night?
Zhongying: I'm not sure how to solve it, there will always be one side that makes more sense.
Bo Yuan: Depending on the situation, many times it may be a matter of order, or it may be a problem of practice or statement, anyway, everyone will always discuss the result. We're not really serious enough to say, I'm not acting anymore, I'm going home.
YongJing: I think we are more mature in the face of this matter as we get older, and you can slowly distinguish, ok, at this time he is simply this emotion, and we will avoid it separately.
Nandu: If the time of day could be arranged, how would you arrange it?
Zhongying: I may sleep until 3 p.m. first, because we all go to bed a little late, sometimes if it is too late, I will sleep at 6 o'clock in the morning, and then I will sleep until 3 p.m. and get up to eat. If the weather is nice, get out for a walk.
Yongjing: I actually change a lot from period to period. Like the previous few months when I was a little melancholy and a little sad, I really haven't done it. In the past two months, I have found a new interest, that is, every time I go to a city, I go to the bookstore in this city, and then I go to see what books I will see, which I think is quite interesting.
Bo Yuan: My itinerary has always been very fixed, about 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock this range to get up, get up to make a cup of coffee, and then decide where to eat, to see if you want to go out today. If you don't go out, stay at home until the evening, maybe after dinner, you will exercise. It's usually possible to play games in between, and lately I've been watching some movies about effects, and I'm crazy about watching them. Well, and then it's gone.
