After graduating from the China Criminal Police College in 2003, Wang Chao gave up his job as a teacher at the university and joined the police force without hesitation. At that time, the leader of the Political Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau asked Wang Chao where he wanted to go, and Wang Chao replied: "Where is the most chaotic, I go where I go." As a result, the fledgling Wang Chao was assigned to the Eastern Zhou Police Station (now the Martin Police Station) in northwestern Shenzhen.
Located at the junction of Shenzhen and Dongguan, the Eastern Zhou Police Station was one of the three police stations with the largest number of homicides in Shenzhen that year. The infrastructure of the jurisdiction is weak, many sections of the road do not even have street lights, there are a total of 18 police officers in the police station, two vehicles, public security basically rely on civil air defense, theft and robbery police are high.
"To what extent were the criminals mad at that time? Cut people first, then rob them. We often have to divide the soldiers into two roads, one way to pursue the murderer, and the other to carry the victim to the hospital. Wang Chao recalled.
Only if you have faith in your heart can you go far. In the face of the severe social security situation, Wang Chao, with a fearless momentum and a sincere initial intention for public security work, took deep root in the Eastern Zhou police station.
In 2008, after a period of investigation, Wang Chao and his colleagues launched a network collection operation against the core members of a family-owned drug trafficking gang entrenched in the area. On the way to the escort, a drug dealer said viciously to Wang Chao: "I remember you, and in the future, either you will kill me or I will kill you." ”
In the following month, Wang Chao found himself being followed by people, and the relatives and friends of the members of the drug trafficking gang repeatedly wrote letters to Wang Chao's unit and procuratorate to make false accusations, and threatened Wang Chao: If he did not want to release people, he would not be at peace.
The intimidation and threat of Wang Chao by the frenzied drug trafficking gang lasted for two years, but Wang Chao was not deterred, followed the line of investigation, and finally eliminated the drug trafficking gang. A colleague asked him: "What kind of beliefs support you to work so hard?" He said: "Wearing a police uniform is a responsibility." ”

In 2019, Shenzhen's special struggle against organized crime and evil entered a tough period and a deep-water area, and Wang Chao was transferred to the Guangming Sub-Bureau as the head of the criminal police brigade to lead the bureau's anti-gang crime and anti-evil work.
In the first half of that year, the police of the Guangming Sub-Bureau received reports from the masses that there were "village tyrants" in Tangjia Village, Guangming District, who often organized illegal and criminal activities, which seriously affected the local social order and the normal life of residents. After receiving the clue, the Guangming Branch Immediately set up a special case team to investigate.
"At that time, the clues obtained were complex and chaotic, and they were old and difficult to identify, which brought great difficulties to the investigation work. But in our experience, it is certain that this gang is involved in criminal syndicates and evil forces. Wang Chao recalled that in order to break the deadlock in the investigation, he and his colleagues sorted out the existing clues one by one and analyzed the cases of the opponents. Finally, an inconspicuous little clue caught Wang Chao's attention. He found that there were several off-site detainees in the material, suspected of being gang members. Wang Chao and his colleagues rushed thousands of miles to investigate in depth.
Kung Fu pays off. This survey has made an important breakthrough. Subsequently, the special case team secretly visited the victims according to the important situation brought back by Wang Chao. In the end, a gang of criminal and evil forces led by Tang Mou who was entrenched in Tangjia Village, used violent means to control grass-roots elections for a long time, embezzled collective land, and carried out illegal and criminal activities such as extortion, opening casinos, organizing prostitution, and forcing transactions.
On July 10, 2019, the Shenzhen police closed the net of the mafia-related organizations in accordance with the law, and during the operation, Wang Chao commanded from the front and organized the special case group of police officers to divide into multiple roads, arresting more than 40 criminal suspects and freezing, seizing and sealing assets of nearly 210 million yuan. The arrest team left the village on the front foot, and the villagers set off firecrackers on the back foot to celebrate the success of the public security crackdown.
Although important members of the gang arrived at the case, Wang Chao still could not get up easily. In the past, after receiving the alarm from the masses, the public security organs cracked down on individual cases according to law, but due to the lack of evidence of gang crimes, they could not form an overall crackdown. How to thoroughly cut down the grass and root out the roots and settle the general ledger with the criminal and evil forces has become a major problem facing the special case group.
In order to expand the source of clues and evidence, the special case team went deep into villages and towns to visit the masses, but the villagers, intimidated by the evil forces, did not cooperate with the special case team's visit at first, did not respond positively, and the work of clue verification and evidence collection once reached an impasse.
Wang Chao decided to personally lead the team to carry out the "entering the village and stationing at the point" operation to mobilize the masses with the greatest efforts and sincerity. He said: There will be a war with the criminal syndicates and evil forces. We are the police, and we must have the courage to shine the sword. To enter the village and station the point is to show our attitude to the masses, so that the masses will stand up and work with us to eradicate the criminal syndicates and evil forces.
"I am a member of the Communist Party and a policeman, so don't be afraid and speak boldly." Wang Chao's sincere and sincere attitude gradually dispelled the concerns of the villagers, and the bullied people began to take the initiative to go to the work department in the village to expose the crimes of the criminal and evil forces, helped the special case team clarify the development trajectory and organizational structure of the gang, and provided a solid factual basis for the later procuratorial arrest of the gang.
In July 2021, Wang Chao was awarded the honorary title of "National Public Security System Second-class Hero Model".
