Triceratops, also known as Trichodermaurus, is a genus of ornithopods in the family Diplodocus, a species of plant-eating dinosaur, fossils found in the Late Cretaceous strata of North America, about 68 million to 65 million years ago. Triceratops was one of the last dinosaurs to appear, often used as a representative fossil of the Late Cretaceous period, a dinosaur that was very popular in popular culture. Triceratops lived on the same land as T. rex, and according to recently discovered fossils, T. rex and ceratopsosaurs did fight.
