China's scientific research team found a new insect species in urban wetlands

The reporter learned from the Guangdong Academy of Sciences that the team of researchers from the Yang Xing family of the Institute of Zoology of the Academy recently found a new rare insect species in the Haizhu National Wetland Park in Guangzhou, which belongs to the genus of insect coleoptera leaf beetle family fluorinaceae. The scientific research team named it "Haizhus fluorescent leaf beetle". The results have been published in the academic journal Journal of Insect Taxonomy.

According to Yang Xingke, academic director of the Institute of Zoology of the Guangdong Academy of Sciences, new species have generally been discovered in the wild in the natural environment. The discovery of new species in the urban wetland environment is relatively rare, and it is also an important indicator of guangzhou's urban ecological environment restoration.

The new species discovery site, Guangzhou Haizhu National Wetland Park, is located in the center of the city, with a total area of 1,100 hectares.
