Ninety percent of respondents expect more fine domestic variety shows to appear

Nowadays, watching variety shows has become one of the daily relaxation methods for many young people. What are your expectations for the future development of domestic variety shows? A few days ago, a survey of 1158 respondents released by the China Youth Daily Social Survey Center and the questionnaire network (wenjuan.com) showed that 90.0% of the respondents expected more domestic variety shows to appear more high-quality.

Of the respondents to the survey, 40.2% were men and 59.8% were women. Post-00s accounted for 11.9%, post-90s accounted for 48.4%, and post-80s accounted for 32.5%.

After 95, Zhang Shuo (pseudonym) is preparing for a master's degree, and in addition to intense study, he likes to relieve stress by watching variety shows. One of his favorite variety shows is "Informal Talks," which is a must-see almost every season. "The contestants of this show are all foreign friends who have lived in China for a long time, and they will discuss global culture and recent hot topics at the roundtable, and in the process, I can see the cultural differences between different countries, as well as the different attitudes and interpretations of the same issue, which makes me have more perspectives and learn a lot when thinking about the problem."

What should be the characteristics of a high-quality variety show? 65.5% of the respondents believe that it is constantly innovating, the quality of the program is high and distinctive, and 64.2% of the respondents believe that it is to adhere to the bottom line and promote positive values.

Liu Fang (pseudonym), who works in Nanjing, has seen many variety shows, and she feels that the positioning of variety shows is very important, "For example, last year, a women's variety show was very popular, the main theme is that women over 30 years old also have a different style, the theme itself is very attractive, and it can quickly get the recognition of many women."

In the view of Wang Linlin (pseudonym) after 95, a high-quality variety show must have the correct values, which is the bottom line and the red line. "Now the audience of variety shows is very wide, many minors are also watching, if there is some incorrect or bad content, it is easy to cause adverse effects on them, so in terms of content review, it is more stringent."

Wang Linlin feels that there is another criterion for judging the quality of variety shows, that is, whether they can resonate with the audience. Recently, she was watching an emotional observation variety show, which made her feel very deeply. "Through the show, you'll discover the differences in thinking between men and women and how to get along with people who are close. Many times, we will ignore the feelings of intimate people, use our own thinking to measure right and wrong, good or bad, and it is easy to fall into misunderstandings." Through this show, Wang Linlin is also reflecting on her own way of dealing with intimate feelings, "will try to consider problems from the perspective of the other party and understand each other."

According to the survey, 56.0% of the respondents believe that high-quality variety shows should be light and funny to meet entertainment needs, and 45.0% of the respondents believe that they should be close to the audience and lead the cultural trend. Others include: reflecting social issues, assuming social responsibility (42.1%), content out of the circle, triggering social discussions (37.9%), integration of technology and content, creating a visual feast (26.2%), having an international perspective, and promoting cultural output (19.1%).

Zhang Shuo feels that a high-quality variety show should first be based on respecting, developing and disseminating China's excellent traditional culture, borrowing today's technology or advanced concepts, colliding and integrating, and creating works that are both artistic and in line with the audience's aesthetics. Secondly, there must be a unique value concept, which can convey some valuable views, not just to please the audience, and a good work must be to meet the entertainment needs of the audience while enhancing the audience's spiritual realm and aesthetic taste. In addition, it is necessary to be realistic, which means not only that the environment should be real, but also real in presentation, rather than through editing and stitching, telling a story that is different from the facts.

Liu Fang feels that the current variety shows have done a good job in entertaining the public, and there have been many excellent and interesting works, but the discussion of social reality problems is not enough, there is room for further exploration, "Now many programs have begun to pay attention to some social issues, such as domestic violence, school bullying, etc., as well as some vulnerable social groups, such as left-behind children, autistic children, etc." This is a good start, and I hope to see more discussions on social issues in the future, not only to meet the needs of entertainment, but also to really help certain groups and attract more attention from society."
