This convention-breaking 135-foot superyacht has been in the spotlight for more than a decade.
It was once the star of the movie "Extreme Thieves" and now sells for just $6.8 million.

When the yacht launched in 2009, she broke a lot of the rules, which was exactly what designer legendary British architect Lord Norman Foster wanted. Although the Ocean Emerald wasn't his first foray into superyacht design, the 190-foot Izanami, built by Lürssen in 1993 (later renamed "Ronin by Oracle boss Larry Ellison"), she was undoubtedly his most controversial.

The Ocean Emerald was built by Rodriguez Yachts with an all-aluminum hull and a lightweight composite superstructure. It is equipped with two 1,400 hp Caterpillar diesel engines with a top speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.
Striking features include floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a spacious entertainment deck, and three rows of expansive teak staircases at the stern, designed to allow guests to work out while climbing from the water to the top deck Jacuzzi. The "Ocean Emerald" is actually one of three identical yachts built between 2009 and 2010 for a project called YachtPlus. The project works in such a way that customers can buy one-eighth of the shares and stay on board for 30 nights a year, similar to the domestic partnership to buy a boat, the concept of a time-sharing vacation.
The three yachts will be divided between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, with access to the "Ocean Emerald", or sister yachts "Ocean Pearl" or "Ocean Sapphire". The designer himself was one of the original investors. In the end, the project failed and the yacht was sold cheaply. Just before Plackett bought the yacht, she made her debut in the action thriller Extreme Thief, an adaptation of the 1991 action film Breaking Point starring Keanu Reeves and the late Patrick Swaites. The location is set off the coast of Brindisi, Italy, and is used as a venue for raucous yacht parties.

The Ocean Emerald was reported to have cost more than $24 million to build, but now it's being listed for sale at Camper & Nicholsons for $6.86 million. Its sister boat, the Ocean Sapphire, was also listed for sale on Zurich-based Schmidt Yachting for $6.98 million.
