Veteran Hong Kong actor Wong Shuk Tong died in the early hours of April 10 at the age of 77. Huang Shutang's son, Huang Rongzhang, confirmed the news on social platforms in the early morning and said that his father "left without pain, quietly and peacefully."

Fans of the drama may not be familiar with the name "Huang Shutang", but the roles played by Huang Shutang have accompanied many audiences to grow up, such as the killer Zhongyuan Yihong in "Chu Liuxiang", Yang Jian in "The King of a Thousand Kings", the square map of "Zombie Daochang", Shen Gui in "The Legend of Fat Cat", and "Uncle Qiu" in "I Have a Date with Zombies".
Some netizens lamented that Wu Mengda, who played Hu Tiehua in "Chu Liuxiang", just passed away not long ago, and now the "Central Plains a little red" Huang Shutang is also gone, and the "familiar face" of childhood is missing.
Colorectal cancer metastasizes to the lungs
According to Hong Kong media reports, Huang Shutang was diagnosed with the second stage of colorectal cancer in 2018 and gradually recovered after surgical treatment. Last month, Huang Shutang went to the hospital for examination because of poor breathing, and later confirmed that the colorectal cancer had metastasized and that the cancer cells had entered the lungs. At that time, the news of the critical illness of "Qiu Uncle" came out, and Huang Rongzhang also wrote on social platforms: Cancer took his mother away in 2005, and now he is torturing his father.
It is understood that Huang Shutang's son Huang Rongzhang is engaged in dubbing work in the acting world. Huang Shutang's sister Huang Wenhui is also a veteran actor, who starred in the 1983 version of "The Legend of the Eagle Shooter" as Mei Chaofeng. Huang Wenhui said in an interview with Hong Kong media last month that his brother was conscious when he was sent to the hospital, but his blood pressure was not very stable, and then he needed to rely on "throat insertion" to maintain breathing.
At that time, "I Have a Date with Zombies" was a group of actor friends, such as Liu Xixian, Wan Qiwen, Yuan Wenjie, etc., all cheered for Huang Shutang on social platforms.
However, at about 2:00 a.m. on April 10, Huang Rongzhang confirmed the news of his father's death on social platforms, and Huang Rongzhang wrote: "My most beloved and respected father, no pain, quiet and peaceful departure." I am glad to be able to accompany you on the last stretch of the road; I am glad that I have the opportunity to filial piety and serve you; I am glad that I can grow under the bend of your strong arms; thank you very much. Dad, I love you, I will be good, I will take care of myself, you can leave with confidence. ”
Leave behind masterpieces such as "Butterfly Change" and "I Have a Date with Zombies"
Born on September 20, 1943 in Chaoyang, Guangdong Province, Huang Shutang lived in Macau at an early age and moved to Hong Kong with his family as a teenager. Huang Shutang originally planned to go to the exam to become a police officer after finishing middle school, and it happened that his sister Huang Wenhui saw an advertisement for the film company "Xianhe Gang United Pictures" to recruit new students in the training class of 100 million yuan in 1965, so she went to register and obtained the record. Huang Shutang also signed up three months later, thus becoming a member of the training class.
After graduating, Huang Shutang began filming with Liu Jialiang and Tang Jiaxue as action actors when the company began filming "Female Black Man Wei Zhen Hell Gate". By the early 1970s, he had made frequent appearances in Hong Kong films. Later, he also worked as a martial arts instructor and pre-screen actor in Leigh's television and film circles. In 1979, he participated in Xu Ke's debut film "Butterfly Change", and at the same time served as the martial arts instructor of "Butterfly Change", his performance was recognized by the industry, and then he was appreciated by TVB to recruit him, starring in "Chu Liuxiang" In the Central Plains Little Red. In 1980, he cooperated with Zhou Runfa, Zheng Yuling and others in the drama "Family Affection", and he and Zhou Runfa became very good friends at that time.
When discussing the renewal of the contract two years later, the TVB executives were not inferior, which made Huang Shutang angry and injured the other party, coupled with the fact that his friend Zhou Runfa once fell out with TVB, the top management believed that Huang Shutang supported Zhou Runfa against TVB, and Huang Shutang also fell out with TVB, and then turned to the development of the film circle.
However, his development did not go well since then, in October 1986, Huang Shutang returned to Asia Television (Yuan li's television), and since then participated in dozens of TV series, such as Liu Xianqiu in "The Transformation of the Silkworm and Then Compares with the Sky", Bai Mei in "Hong Xiguan", Fang Tu in "Zombie Daochang", Xu Bada in "The King of a Thousand Kings Re-emerges from the Jianghu", Shen Gui in "The Legend of the Fat Cat", Lin Rongchao in "I Am from Chaozhou", and "Qiu Uncle" he Yingqiu in the "I Have a Date with Zombies" series is Huang Shutang's most influential role. Since then, many people have directly called him "Uncle Qiu".
He left Asian Television in 2004 after starring in I Have a Date with Zombies III: Eternal Lands. He was soon introduced to Southeast Asia by a friend, and in 2015 he was named the local emperor in Vietnam for the TV series "Unbreakable". In recent years, he has rarely performed in front of the curtain, and mainly serves as a tutor in the school's kung fu class. In 2020, he was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award by the Hong Kong Action Stunt Performers Association in recognition of his efforts in action direction over the years.
