Ordos fine wool sheep is a fine breed of fine wool sheep produced by hybridization of Wushen Mongolian sheep as the mother and Xinjiang Merino sheep as the father, mainly produced in Wushen Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia.
Relying on the advantages of the vast natural pasture of Wushen Banner, ordos fine wool sheep are free-range in natural and pollution-free grasslands, and can be properly stored in autumn and winter to survive the winter by properly storing corn, corn grass, alfalfa grass, etc. Lamb, very nutritious, contains protein, fat, mineral phosphorus, iron and vitamin B, vitamin A and other nutrients, when eaten with strong flavor, tender and juicy, no smell, fat but not greasy, delicious color, good taste and other characteristics, is the preferred food for meat in the lives of people of all ethnic groups. Wool, fine hair, long fiber, large bending, high net wool rate, comprehensive quality basically reached the level of similar "Australian wool", compared with similar domestic products, in a leading position. Sheepskin, with good thickness, strong elasticity, good softness and other characteristics, is the best raw material for leather products. Goat milk, sheep blood, sheep liver, sheep kidney, etc. all have their own unique edible value.
The town of Garutu in Wushen Banner is rich in water and grass, which is one of the core breeding areas of fine wool sheep in Ordos in the country. The town is engaged in the Ordos fine wool sheep breeding industry farmers and herdsmen households reached 2991 households, accounting for more than 80% of the total farmers and herdsmen, the leading industry fine wool sheep output value reached 225 million yuan, accounting for 59.2% of the total income of farmers and herdsmen. The annual production of fine wool in the town reaches more than 1,090 tons, and the sales volume of fine wool sheep reaches more than 150,000. The income from the fine wool sheep industry is the main economic source of production and livelihood for herders. In 2020, Garutu Town was recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs as the ninth batch of national one village and one product demonstration towns.
In recent years, Garutu Town has closely focused on the "billion yuan" industrial construction goal of Fine Wool Sheep in Ordos, and has made every effort to promote fine wool sheep breeding, wool sales, lamb processing, packaging, cold chain, marketing and other links, extending the fine wool sheep industry chain, enhancing added value, and transforming and upgrading the fast lane. At present, there are 1 leading enterprise in the fine wool sheep industry autonomous region, 2 leading enterprises at the municipal level, and 20 professional cooperatives of fine wool sheep, through the promotion and support of the government, the pioneering establishment of "production, slaughter, marketing" in one of the industrialization consortium, involving the scope of enterprise business including breeding sheep sales, slaughtering, processing, sales, brand marketing, technical service support and other aspects, to achieve the ordos fine sheep industry one, two or three integrated development.
Garutu Town has always adhered to the development model of "Ordos fine wool sheep" industry, effectively consolidated the brand sample of "one village and one product demonstration village", continuously upgraded and transformed the industrial process of pre-production and post-finishing of fine wool sheep, improved quality and efficiency, promoted high-quality development of the industry, and stimulated farmers and herdsmen to devote themselves to the development of fine wool sheep industry, fine processing, e-commerce entrepreneurship, etc., and took multiple measures to promote rural revitalization.
