Singer Domingo apologized for taking full responsibility for the sexual harassment allegations

On February 25, just a few minutes after the Musicians Association issued its investigative report, Domingo immediately issued a statement saying that "all responsibility is assumed," the Spanish newspaper El País reported. In a statement to Efe, he said, "Over the past few months, I have spent some time reflecting on the allegations made against me by my former colleagues. I respect the fact that these women can finally speak comfortably about their feelings. I would like to take this opportunity to tell them that I deeply regret the pain I have caused them and that I take full responsibility for my actions. ”

Domingo initially denied the allegations, but this time he wrote in a statement to Effie that "it is also a growth for me personally." I didn't think of it before, but now I understand. Maybe some women have worried that expressing their feelings honestly will have a negative impact on their careers, but this is definitely not my original intention, and I never wanted to feel that way. ”

Le Nations quoted anonymous Sources from the Associated Press, where a union-hired lawyer determined that Domingo had abused his power and misbehaved for at least two decades. From September to December 2019, lawyers met with 55 people to investigate the matter. Of those, 27 said they had experienced or witnessed Domingo's misconduct between the 1990s and 2000s. Another 12 people said they were aware of the matter and that the company had heard about it.

In August 2019, eight singers and a dancer claimed to have been sexually harassed by Domingo, dating back to the late 1980s. At the time, Domingo said he always believed that his "interactions and relationships" with all women were "welcome" and "voluntary." In October, 11 other women joined the charges, one of whom was willing to reveal his name, Angela Turner Wilson, saying, "The tenor touched him several times without consent." ”

In response, the artist once argued: "Many people I work with know that I have never shown harassment, aggression and vulgarity as they accuse me. He thinks everyone "should know him well."
