Our province has deployed a census of agricultural germplasm resources

Hainan Daily Haikou, June 22 (Reporter Fu Renyi) On June 22, the video conference on the deployment of the province's agricultural germplasm resources census was held in Haikou. Taking this meeting as an opportunity, our province deployed the largest scale, the widest coverage and the largest number of varieties involving a census of agricultural germplasm resources, covering crops, livestock, poultry, aquatic products and other agricultural germplasm resources. This action plan uses three years to comprehensively find out the family background of crop, livestock and poultry, aquatic germplasm resources in our province, rescue and protect a number of rare, endangered and local characteristic resources, and achieve full collection and guarantee.

Since the beginning of this year, the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has actively implemented the various arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to "fight the battle of turning the seed industry around" and the census of agricultural germplasm resources. At present, our province has issued the "Development Plan for the Protection and Utilization of Agricultural Germplasm Resources in Hainan Province (2021-2025)", the "Administrative Measures for the Crop Germplasm Resources Nursery (Library) of Hainan Province", the "Administrative Measures for the Conservation Areas and Gene Banks of Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources Conservation Farms in Hainan Province" and other regulations, and gradually established and improved the protection and utilization system of agricultural germplasm resources in our province.

The relevant person in charge of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs requires that cities and counties should carry out a census on the surface with the county as the unit, conduct systematic investigations of key areas and key resources at the provincial level, complete resource collection, identification and storage, and issue a report on the status of agricultural germplasm resources in the province. First, we should do a good job in closing the census of crop resources in a timely manner. The second is to comprehensively launch the census of livestock and poultry germplasm resources. Focus on doing a good job in the census of 16 local characteristic breeds (taxa) such as the Five-Fingered Mountain Pig, the Hainan Pig (Tunchang Pig, the Ding'an Pig, the Lingao Pig, the Wenchang Pig), the Liangguang Xiaohua Pig (Duntou Pig), the Xinglong Buffalo, the Leizhou Goat (Hainan Black Goat), the Chinese Fan Duck (Jiaji Duck), the Lei Qiong Cow, the Ding'an Chicken, the Danzhou Chicken, the Li Hen Mountain Chicken, the Wenchang Chicken, the Shiling Chicken, and the Hainan Zhongbee. The third is to promote the census of aquatic germplasm resources. Focus on finding out the original species, breeding species and introduced species of farms (households), accelerate the implementation of the South China Sea fishery germplasm resources survey project, and begin to plan the implementation plan of the second phase of the survey project; scientifically assess the characteristics, rarity and endangerment level of the species, and do a good job in resource collection and protection.

The meeting also laid out a specific timetable: the crop census should be completed by the end of September, and the overall census of livestock, poultry and aquatic products should be completed by the end of December this year.
