The "Chronicle of History" records: "In the fourth year of Li Gong, he sacrificed the dictatorship of Zhongzhong. Li Gong was troubled, and yin made Xu Yong want to kill The Sacrifice Zhong. Wife-in-law, sacrifice to the daughter, know..."

In the summer of the same year, Zheng Ligong, who had attempted to murder his vassals, fled to the State of Cai (栎国) and soon after, Gong Zhong returned to Zheng Zhaogong and restored him to the throne. This is the origin of the allusion to "man is as good as possible", which was later extended to contain a pejorative idiom.
