Gangu No. 1 Middle School, one of the twenty-four key middle schools in Gansu Province, has a history of nearly 100 years of running schools, cultivating a large number of outstanding talents for all parts of the country, and its establishment is inseparable from the famous Song Zi and Song Zi (1880-1945) of the Fuqiang celebrities during the Republic of China period.
When Song Ziqing Guangxu was employed by the Tianshui mingru Renqi Changmen, he studied at Longnan Academy, and later Zhongxiucai. Song Zi did not seek Rongli, and liked to collect ancient books oracle bone bell ding and celebrity calligraphy and paintings. Good at calligraphy, especially the zhong ding seal. In the first year of the Qing Dynasty (1909), he was selected as an appendage to serve as a Qipinjing official. In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives as a Republican. In the 6th year of the Republic of China (1917), he was elected as a member of the National Assembly. The following year, he participated in the presidential election of Xu Shichang. In the 12th year of the Republic of China (1923), Cao Kun bribed members of parliament and bribed the election of the president, but Song angrily refused to bribe and left Beijing.
When Shi Tianshui Deng Baoshan learned of Song's reason for returning home, he was very impressed, so he took advantage of the garrisons of Pinghan and Longhai to escort him and dozens of boxes of books and scrolls back to Gangu. At the request of the principals of the middle schools in the provincial city, Lu Hongtao, the governor of Gandu, proposed to appoint Song as the director of the Department of Education, and was politely thanked.
Kong Fanjin, the envoy of Longnan Town, had great respect for this member of the Beiyang Government, and had been an official of the Beiyang Government for many years, with a clean wind in his sleeves and a high debt, and was willing to give a huge amount of money to repay the debt. Song Yiyi did not take it, tried his best to refuse, and after reading fuqiang education backward, young students had no way to further their studies, and wanted to use Kong's gift as the fund for the establishment of the middle school, and Kong gladly agreed. Song Zi will soon donate 6,000 yuan of silver, plus 5,500 yuan of donglu academy funds, and add 10% to the annual tobacco mu fine, create a soil bank and livestock tax surcharge, and in the 14th year of the Republic of China (1925), he used the former South Street to train Yamen to establish the "Fuqiang County Public First Middle School" and served as the school director. At the same time, yan invited well-educated people to teach at Gangu Middle School, and in addition to local children, there were also children from surrounding areas such as Tianshui and Wushan.
Song Zi is concerned about the well-being of the people, enthusiastic about local public welfare undertakings, and major matters related to people's livelihood. During Zhu Shaoliang's administration of Gansu, he hired Song as an adviser to the Gansu provincial government.
In his later years, he donated all the precious books and celebrity calligraphy and paintings to Gangu Middle School, and the school established the "Sub-Material Library" to remember its virtues and inspire students to become talents.
