MARCA: Hazard could have ankle surgery again, or miss the European Championship

According to Marca, Eden Hazard may need to undergo surgery again, which could leave him out of this summer's European Championship.

Hazard, plagued by a left ankle injury, is eager to undergo surgery again to get rid of the complications that have recently occurred. As things stand, the Belgian star is likely to opt for surgery, especially after his recent re-injury. Marca said it would be surprising that Hazard chose any other treatment than undergoing surgery.

Hazard has been unwell since his last surgery, and he has been suffering from ankle pain, which has intensified in recent weeks. Ankle problems are also thought to be the cause of his muscle injuries, as ankle discomfort can alter his running movements.

Re-undergoing surgery appears to be the only solution, even if it means he will miss all the remaining games of the season and even miss the European Championship as a result.

Hazard was injured in the November 2019 match against Paris and then underwent surgery in March 2020, a surgery aimed at correcting the problems caused by that operation.

Since joining Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, Hazard has suffered 10 injuries, large and small (as shown in the chart above), injured five times in his first season with the team, and five times this season. After joining Real Madrid, Hazard played only 36 of the team's 88 games, accounting for only 40.91%.
